I'm thinking of coming to the Inzane this year... trouble is... I live in England.

No chance of shipping the Valk over, so where do I stand with hiring a suitable bike for me and She Who Must be Obeyed? ??? ???

Does anyone with say 1000 miles of the event rent Wings (guess its too much to hope for to hire a Valk!)...

Anyone idea of a good route including the event.... ???

Questions, questions.. ??? ???

No idea of where to start planning (which airport to fly to etc) as have never been to the US before.. ???

Hmmm

Suggestions, advice and recommendations (not) on a post card please... Grin

They apparently rent from New Orleans so you can get some right good eats on either end of your trip and not have to rent a car
The more time you have for vacation the more choices you will have for where to get the bike and where to fly into

Check flights to larger cities in the area. Dallas, Kansas City, St Louis, etc. Then search for rentals in those cities. You should find Wings for rent in larger cities. The PHX area is about 1400 miles away and I know of several Wing rentals here.

Have you considered posting a request for someone to share their trip to Inzane?  You could check with the nearest -to them- Honda shop for area rentals and the nearest airport.  Reserve a bike rental, fly in and get the bike, then meet up with your new friend(s) for the ride to Inzane.

Being in a new country while on a rented bike heading to Inzane may not actually be the romantic trip I think of when I think of going to Europe to do the same.  To easy to get stranded on a long ride if you're a single bike.  Get the list of fellow Valk riders who make themselves available for emergency assistance via the Mutual Aid Network.  (it's here on the VRCC board somewhere, I just checked but couldn't find it.  Maybe the board experts can locate and post the link).

Here's a link to INZANE. Not too busy at this time, I like the idea of finding a rider in a big city that has wings to rent and go from there!

Hedgehog,
I think the best three cities to look for rentals would be Memphis, Tennesse, Little Rock, Arkansas, or St louis Misouri.

I did a quick check and a place called Eagleriders out of Memphis / Olive Branch advertises rentals all the way up to the Goldwing.  It puts you about 300 miles away from Inzane as well as a major airport to fly into.  Didn't know where you were flying out of in the UK but from London to Memphis (MEM) on travelocity the airfare is estimated at $1300 USD.

The MC shop is only about 20 minutes away in Olive Branch Mississippi.  Don't know cost of rental. Memphis is a great place to get indoctrinated into the southern way.

Keep in mind we drive on the wrong side of the road and don't use terms like soot and moron (a taxi driver I had in Manchester UK).

Hope this helps you out with some info.  Come to the states we need the tourism. But remember we are Colonials.

Charlie is right, as far as going solo somewhere different.  Much better to team up with someone that's been there, done that and follow along.  I'll look around and see if there are any places that would rent a GW.  Not sure but, it won't hurt to look.  I'd be happy to share some wind with you if you happen to ride through Kentucky.  If so, please feel free to give me a holler.

Here's another option, if you want to ride a Valkyrie and you're willing to ride 1240 miles to InZane.

We have a "spare" Valkyrie.  You could fly into Phoenix and ride with us to InZane.  You can stay with us as long as you like before and after InZane.  We'll probably leave for InZane Thurs or Fri and take two days to get there (600-650 miles/day).

Email me, if you want to discuss it further.

You can also rent cycles out of Springfield, MO, just a short ride north of Eureka Springs. My in-laws live there and I've looked into renting before.

There's a regional airport there as well, so you could catch a connection out of Chicago to Springfield.

Most HD dealerships also rent Harleys. On ave its $100 a day. Might be easy to find then a Jap bike rental place. Plus they give you a helmet, rain gear, etc.

I'm in Oklahoma City, 268 miles from Eureka Springs. You are welcome to stay here before and after I have an xtra interstate that is up for sale at the moment if I still have it you can ride it, if not they do rent bikes in OKC. if interested give me as much notice as possible. Will pick you up at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.

Also , consider getting an international drivers liscence and make sure to get insurance coverage. The drivers liscense makes it a lot easier if you should happen to get involved with our legal people.
The wife and I travel abroad a lot and only once, did we need the info on the liscense, but it could save a couple of days delay if they have to run your info.  Just my two shillings worth. Hope to see you at Inzane.

So many good kind folk on here...

Sorry for delay in replying but I just lost my job, so I guess I won't be coming to INZANE until next year!

GREAT! (NOT). Sad Sad Sad Sad

I'm pretty cut up about it -  tickedoff

I may get a junior post instead of the senior one I had but will probably have to crawl on hands and knees for that, so I'm not best pleased, nor indeed, very well off in the wallet department either. Cry Cry

At least I still have the Valk.

I'm determined to come over - just need to find the dollars...

Darn. I'm gutted, mates.

I hope things will get better really quickly and we'll see you next year at InZane.  Meanwhile, I'm sure you know about the European gathering in June.

Hedgehog, I feel your pain, also had to skip InZane this year for similar reasons. Maybe next year we'll get to meet. It is very strong consolation that I have my Valk. Good luck in getting something soon.

Oss, and other renters, I have rented from a few eaglerider locations. As far as I know they are at harley dealers, and have only Harleys.  Last year in New Orleans we got some old Harleys. I think mine hed 36K. New Orleans roads + a 36K harley = rough ride. On the other hand Ft Lauderdale FL had real nice bikes. So just ask what exactly your getting. I will now ask how many miles on it.

Any one know who rents Wings. I'm looking for something on the west coast?

When I rented from Eagle Rider in Los Angeles a couple of years ago, I had an option to rent a GoldWing.  They also had BMWs.

I assume that different locations have different options, but according to the website, even though the picture for "bike rentals" is a Harley logo, there were other brands available.
