Thinking of a trip to Maine in August.  What is the weather like?  And what is there to see?  Probably spend about six days.

Weather in Maine is like the weather in any part of New England.  It can be hot and humid or rainy or cold or beautiful in the 70's and sunny or all of that in the same day.

The coast of Maine is beautiful and make sure you visit Cadilac Mountain in Arcadia National Forest near Bar Harbor.

The interior is mostly forest and sparsely populated.

I think you can still catch the Ferry from Bar Harbor to Nova Scotia, that's cool.

Hello,

We drove up to New Hampshire & Maine the last 2 years on our Goldwing with trailer in late July and early August.  We found the weather to be really nice and not too hot.  High 70's low 80's.  We drove along the coast a lot staying in Booth Bay and Bar Harbour.  Lot of nice routes and scenery.  We did not get a chance to take the Ferry to Halifax but would have liked too.  Lots of Seafood and Lobster.  Always a lot to see and not enough time.  The first year we stopped for 2 night in Watertown NY to see the Thousand Islands and took the tour boat ride to see the Castles.

Have fun,

Dan & Trish

Sorry but that ferry went out of business 3-4 years ago. If you go up to ST John, you can catch a ferry over to Digby, NS.

It all depends on what part of the state you visit.   If you are on the southern coast, you get a particular seaside climate.  If you are wayyyyyy up narth!, you'll be getting the weather that Quebec Provence experiences.  If you  are on the western border, you'll have the mountain regional forecasts to deal with from the New Hampshire/Vermont areas.

Mostly though, it'll be buggy, muggy, and foggy Down East. Wink

It really depends. Go to the New England board and ask for YB Normal. There are some riders that live up there.  Enjoy, we did! My son loved it! Cheesy

Yeah, the coast is cool and comfortable, but be prepared for swings in temperature. Coastal or central, the warm days can be very chilly nights (40's). The interior of Maine in August can be oppressively hot and humid. But it's still a beautiful state.

If you are going that way, stop off in NH and ride your bike up Mt. Washington.  Great ride.  Can be a butt pucker though.  Great area around there.  There is also a scenic train ride you can do in the area.
