VEHICLE RECALL LIMITS

Greetings All!,
I am wondering if Honda's recall of some 2001 Goldwings (et al) for frame cracks is still in effect? How long do they let recalled vehicles get repaired at Hondas' expense? I'm looking at a 2001 GW (NO IM NOT GETTING RID OF MY 2000 IS PHAT GURL) If I can determine that this one hasn't had the recall work done, can I expect a dealer to handle it or am I gonna be on the hook for inspection and repair?? Thanks, Dave ???

Get the VIN number and call a dealer. They can look it up in their computer.

First, make things easy and check Honda US web site with the VIN to see if it's already been done. Look up is free and a DIY.
Someone posted, or I read some where, the different meanings of those words, recalls, saftey recalls, etc. They all had different meanings and different times that the work needs/can be done. I believe safety recalls had unlimited times for free repairs, as you could imagine.
I've never dealt with things like this, so I do not "know" everything I should know about it.

Any repair costs covered by the recall might only apply to the originial owner too.

I don't know how the Fed govt works with bikes.
But I know some about 4 wheelers. When I worked at Ford as a tech, I learned that a safety recall has no limit as far as years, miles or owners. If there was a recall on a seatbelt, for instance, the recall lasted as long as the car did. Period.
I would think a frame cracking would certainly be a safety item, but it's the government and they do weird things.
