As the weather had turned rather nasty, my departure to Ashevlle, originally scheduled for Sunday, was push forward (or back). As of yesterday, it was "decided" that we were going North. Both Pete, (my friend in Dayton) and I both thought going North was the worst idea. We made an executive decision that North was out. Someone who shall be nameless is still pouting. As of last night, it was looking like Wahalla, or Georgia. As of a few minutes ago, we are back to Asheville, the original plans!! Should be leaving in a couple hours!!
So yesterday did a short ride to Dunlap to check out the very impressive Tennessee Tree Toppers Ramp, The Coke Ovens, and also found the Window Rock.....
I understand these are one of the largest remaining amount of Coke Ovens in one spot. Now if I could only remember what these ovens were for.....I know to heat coal to make Coke that was utilized in the manufacturing of steel? Am I close??

After the Coke, I wanted to check out the TTT Ramp. A few weeks ago I read a post on this board that gave me the idea. Thanks!! Fortuately the wind was blowing directly into my face, as it made venturing out a bit easier!!

The ramp is located off of Window Rock Road. I'm guessing the road is named for this.....

That's all for me......In a few hours, heading SouthEast to Ducktown, then up to Bryson City to start the BRP.
