Crashed last night on 196 in Grand Rapids. Going about 65 and this young girl cut across three lanes of rush hour traffic to late to do much more than brake and lay it down. Cars on all sides. Did not hit her or anything else. Bikes not good not sure how bad. Shattered my collier bone and fractured a rib. I see the surgeon Monday. Full face helmet , chaps, leather jacket with armoire all thrashed. They did there job. Sorry if this is poorly written one hand typing and much needed OxyContin. The cop said the girl was from out of town and was a mess. Could not drive home. She lives 90 min from GR. felt bad for her. She was not on the phone just lost and never saw me.
Hope the bike isn't to bad sure looked like crap in the middle of the e way I couldn't get up hurt like hell.
I was very lucky and I know it.

Glad to hear you survived, it could have been much worse.  Most likely that fat gurl can be patched up and be looking good again.  They are tough old broads and can take quite a bit and still recover.

Get well soon.

Sorry to hear this, this stuff happens way to often. I'll be praying your surgery goes well and that the bike isn't to bad hopefully you both will be in the wind before the end of this riding season. In the mean time take it easy and heal up.

Sorry to hear, that collar bone will keep you from riding, hopefully just long enough to get the repairs done. Glad it wasn't any worse, let us know about parts. Heal quickly. Timbr will take excellent care of you, if you're so inclined to make the trip...

Thanks for all the kind words. The young lady called me today and we had a nice visit, some prayer she is still a wreck. I didn't know it but she held my back up until EMS got there.
I was trying to get up but couldn't make it and several smarter than me folks made sure
I didn't. It was interesting to hear from her and see how she felt. I assured her that we all have times in life when we make mistakes that could effect other people and most of the time we get away with it, sometimes not.
Thanks again going to try to take you up on the big burger Timber will wait to see.

Hey Phil57.

Hope you heal up sooner than I did.
You made out OK if you went down at 65 mph.
Last time I went down was at walking speed and broke my collar bone and bruised a couple of ribs.
Thank the big guy that you survived as well as you did.

Oh by the way,....Valks can be repaired or modified while you are recuperating.

Good luck with the surgery, we'll keep our fingers crossed for you. That's pretty fast for a get off, glad your not hurt worse but I'll bet you're still finding injuries at this point.

Good on you for not being too hard on the girl.  As you said, we all make mistakes. And when malice and drunkenness aren't involved we should try to remember that.

Keep us posted.

Sorry that you went down, but glad you are able to talk about it.  Don't rush it on the recovery, the phat gurl will wait for ya.  Let us know what parts you'll need to get her back on the road, I am sure there will be some help for her, but mind your p's and Q's and heal up first.

Phil,

Going down (on a M/C  Embarrassed) is never a good thing. But, you can now celebrate 4/23 as your second Birthday. Sounds like the Good Lord was looking out for you. angel

BTW, the way you talk about the girl who caused you to get of the Valk is a good example for anyone in your situation. Sounds like she may have learned a lesson. It sucks she had to "practice" on you.  Sad

Hope your pain is bearable, the Valk is salvageable, and that you both recover fully.
