If you've got the retainer clip on the back side off already, the switch assemble should be all free and wobbling around in there.  Best I remember, it's keyed to the mount that's on the back side.  Just turn it either quarter or a half turn and it should come out.

Do you not have the manual?

http://valkyrienorway.com/download.html

pg 2-3 (page 44) shows how to remove the covers.

I couldn't find anything on how to remove it from the cover, but I know it's simple I did it when I sold the cover from my wrecker IS. I think it was a slide clip.

Use the fiche,
http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1999-honda-valkyrie-interstate-gl1500cf-seat/o/m151389sch308139

It is a slide that holds the lock in.

You turn/rotate it, and it will come out. I remember it being like a lot of other cables, throttles and the like.

I had to unbolt the latch at the top where the seat hooks in. This was one time where big hands were not an asset however. Getting that cable back in place on either end will test your patience.

Thanks. The removing of seat latch and the rotate/lift of the cable ends got it out.

I've taken the centre cover off twice in the last year , to repair a brken tab. And install light bar switch. Hated every bit of it. I removed last ,and installed first. The clip no problem. The cable a huge pain. I think I put cable on first.
