I want to buy some Rivco air horns but I am not sure how to mount them on a Vallkyrie.  I am looking fo a nice clean looking mount.  Any pictures or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

They have a mount that uses the stock horn mounting location.  Had them and liked the look.  Unfortunately they sounded like a clown car.  Now I have a Stebel mounted on the left engine hanger.

I have the Rivco air horns on my standard.  The supplied mount sucks!  The horns always shook a bit and finally broke the original bracket where the original horn attached to the frame.  Other riders have had the same problem.  I made a new mount that is solid and holds the horns tucked in much tighter and much more pro looking.

As for the sound,

I have to agree.  I would not buy these for another bike.  I believe that Stebels and BF quads both have a better attention getting sound.  Just my humble opinion.

If you decide to go ahead with the Rivco horns, let me know and I will post a photo of the mount I designed and made.

Try the quad horns from Big BF.  The sound is incredible and they are completely ou of sight.
It is fun to see people jump when you give them a toot.

Thanks for all your help.  I am still undecided, if I was to buy the Rivco horns I was going to mount the original horn somewhere on the bike, maybe underneath or up front under the gas tank.  I heard a Goldwing on Youtube with both hooked up and it made the Rivco's not sound like clown horns.

Dave-  Most guys like the horns showing, but there is an under-bike mount if you want.  Rivco sells it.  It attaches to the exhaust system hangers.

After the original horn bracket broke, I threw the original and the rivco mounting brackets away and made the following 3/16 thick steel plate to mount my Rivco horns.

It holds my horns very securely and very close to the radiator side cover.  Please excuse the nastyness of all the bug gut on the chrome.

A close up of the supporting side shows the stack of extra heavy washers that hold the plate out from the frame.  I plan to make a one piece spacer for this and weld it to the plate but for now these heavy duty washers are doing great.  You will notice one washer has red paint on it.  Yes, I know but I was in a hurry to get the horns back on the bike.

The horns themselves bolt directly to the outer holes in the plate, the hole in the center is tapped for 1/4 - 20 bolt to hold the cover on the horns and the large hole is for the 10mm by 1.25 by 100mm long bolt that replaces the original frame bolt.  The 10 mm bolt goes thru the plate, then thru the washers and then thru the frame and radiator support.  The stack of washers add up to about 1 and 3/4 inch.  That gives about 3/16 inch between the horns and the radiator side cover.

I will replace the washers with a piece of heavy tubing welded to the plate when I do my winter maintinence but will be doing that just to clean things up a bit.  The horns look great as they are and they are solid as a rock.

If I do buy them I would mount where my old horn was...

Did you get your bike back together yet?

One more thing I have noticed about the Rivco horns are that they all seem to be set up for left side installation, mounting on the right side the long horn would be on the bottom.

As far as mounts go, thats not a problem for me, I work for a company that has a sheet metal side and a pipe fitter side, anything round, flat, or in between is not a  problem.

Here's how I did it.

First I got a bracket like this

Then got a exhaust hanger shaped like a "L"

Put them together with the bracket Rivco provided and got a nut cap.

Very solid, never had a problem on both bikes I have that on.

If your Rivco horns are louder than your Stebel, there was something definitely wrong with your Stebel.

Nope, I've had 2 Stebels.  Rivco beats them hands-down.

Sorry, really can't remember.  Could be JC Whitney or one of the many aftermarket stores on the web.
