95k on the 98 Tourer.
Glad I stopped riding yesterday. Could feel a faint vibration in the pegs and some slop in the drive train. Let off the throttle and when I accelerated the slop was there I was thinking Dampers after the post earlier this week. I'm using Gary's dampers. Stopped by my local bike shop and ask if they had any yokes on the shelf I knew they didn't and found out why. They get $140 for one. Man I told them I can get them for $65 from HDL. Any way the guy is good on bikes and said they usually tick as they go out. Last evening I was getting more worried and came home. Long story sorry. Put the bike on the lift deciding to pull apart the final drive and see what was happening.
Been 5k since my final drive service so I tore into the job. Things looked well lubed and then I pulled the yoke. The universal joint was failing. The roller bearings are visible on one side and the cup wore into on the other side. Took the pictures with my phone and there not real clear with the zoom. Maybe some with a camera tomorrow.

What did the dealer say when you told him you can buy them for less than half his price?

Did he offer to lower them at all?

gordonv it's a small town bike shop that sells some Hondas and Yamahas. The owner started it in a garage back in 1970. He is trying to retire in another state and has a young man running the shop. He has his hands tied as to what he can do but has cut his prices several times so I always give him a chance to come close to my on-line shopping price. He couldn't budge on this one saying I was matching his cost price.

Michvalk I thought the same thing. I've put over 100 miles on her since I noticed the faint vibration. Had no idea what it was at first but tried eliminating parts as I rode, I mean as possibilities Smiley. That is when I decided to tear down the drive train checking each item as they were removed. Glad it wasn't last season with the shortage of parts.
