Well, I figured I was going to get serious about loosing ten pounds.  My Dr didnt like my blood pressure (which as always been very low) until I gained a little weight after retiring.

So I dusted off the old 10 speed again.  I tried riding this for exercise a couple years ago but ended up getting a heart thing (unrelated to the bike) which caused me to get lazy again.

Ok long story ended.........I ve been doing a 4 mile course at a brisk pace every day (cept Sun) on the most aggressive hills we have in our area.  Believe it or not we have some perfect hills here in NW Florida for bicycle riding exercise.

I have lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks and my blood pressure is already coming down.

Im in the process of looking for another seat.  after a week on this one, I discovered Ive seen better days with it

Yah, those stock hard skinny seats are not made for anyone over 15 years old.  If you want to go cheap, just buy a 15 dollar gel seat pad cover, but will be best to replace entire seat with a huge, wide aftermarket entire seat with springs on bottom and on top of that then put the slip on gel seat pad cover, very comfy.

Just let my nephew borrow mine and am thinking about renewing my gym membership. I don't know how you do it after the Valkyrie I cant seem to get on the bike to pedal it, seems I am going no where fast. Grin Grin Grin Not to mention the weight and feel difference it is so much of a jump. I touch the handle bars and expect 800 lbs not 18  2funny

Ya, I think I saw a gel seat at Walmart that was at least twice as wide.  that one feels like the only thing touching the seat is the tip of your tail bone.....not a fun way to hit a bump with tires that have 70# of air pressure and no shocks!!!!!!   Shocked

You cannot pedal with muscles you are sitting on! How many racers do you see pedaling with big wide seats?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yes Karen......I just went for a test ride and them gel pads are right where you want em........that seat needs a sexy gals name quick fast and in a hurry.  I dont generally name my stuff, but that seat feels like you are being supported by two soft hands compared to the old one!!!

When I got back into bicycling a few years ago, I rode it in the hills around Austin.  Coasted down a hill, leaned into a curve, and subconsciously waited for the suspension to settle, and twisted the grip.  It did NOT go like I was expecting.  Took me a moment to realize what I had done.

But yes, the lightness, especially the top-heavy-ness of it is disconcerting.  Still fun though.

Great stuff.

A month ago my blood pressure was 130/85 with 68 pulse on my home machine but 140/90  68 pulse at the doctors.

Im in my third week of daily cardio on the bicycle and just now it was 111/68 and pulse of 56 at home.  Im sure my Dr will be very happy whenever I end up in his office for any kind of checkup or something
