Hey, any members in the Winston Salem area?  I will be there in about an hour.  Yesterday started hearing the scraping sound on the front pads.  Also a strange rubbing sound when riding.  Could it be both?

Any good mechanics or I think it is easy to replace?  What size pads do I need and are they available at Autozone/advance/etc?

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Thanks.

Pads are not available at any auto parts store that I know of. Replace the pads in front is about a 10 minute job. Simple to do. However with you hearing rubbing makes me think that your rotors may be beyond usefulness ? Especially if you have been riding awhile with the noise. Most honda stealers will have them. But the rotors may be another story? $$$ You can do it.

Hey Sugerbear....I think we did take a look at 'em when we refilled the fluid.  Have to blame it on Smokin Joe!! and our high speed ride last Sunday!! Grin

I ended going to the Winston Salem as I broke my HF socket trying to get them off to look at.  Glad I did go to the dealer.  More on that later in the post.

Sorry I didnt see your post till today. I'm in the same county as Winston-Salem, just North. Never had them actually do work for me but the WS Honda Stealer folks are real nice..usually have the pads on hand and a guy works there that owns a Valk...Hope you got her fixed.

yes, i did end up going there, and ended up needing a rear tire as well.  I agree, very nice people, incredible selection of used bikes and new.  I paid plenty, but the experience was very positive.  The tech I had was an older guy, that was riding a 4 cyl goldwing... Maybe 78?  One of the early ones.

Thanks for all the advice.  I have more info in my trip report.....http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,41614.0.html
