yesterday I was riding up a poor section of the freeway and hit a pot hole, next thing i know my front fender guard shoots forward ahead of me about 10 feet, so I pulled off the freeway to see what the heck happened. looks to me like it had to have come forward ahead of the fender and catch the tire which ripped the chrome tubing on both sides just in front of where it ataches to the fender. Can't figure out how that could happen. thought?

Mine did the same thing coming home from Inzane last year. I didn't have mine bolted in the front through the fender. I installed the new one the right way and hope it doesn't do it again. Was yours bolted at the front?

No, bought it this way without it being bolted. Even so it would have had to jump forward a half inch to fall over the edge of the fender, that's what has me puzzled.

The same set-up as mine. I think what happens when it is not bolted down in the front is the vibration over a long period of time weakens it where it breaks (at the back fork bolts). I had hit a very big bump in the road when mine broke off.... just like you did.
