A buddy and i went to the woods this morning and came out with these 2 birds. The one on the left is me and its a 25 pound bird with 25 mm spurs and 8 1/2 inch beard. Thr right is 27 pounds 15 mm spurs and a 9 inch beard.

I shot mine around 7:30 and he got the other one around 9:00. 3 came in together when i shot mine but andy couldnt get a shot.

The DNR here in WI should be giving away free turkey tags or at least lower the price seeing as how there are overrun everywhere almost as bad as those darn geese crapping all over.  One thing I am not too fond of is the DNR sounds like is going to consider and possibly approve hunting sandhill cranes in WI.  I know they are on the rise not endangered species anymore and can be seen around me all the time, but they are not as overrun as geese and turkeys are.  They say sandhill cranes taste good, but don't really want to find out until they become a nuisance and ruin crops as bad as all those 1,000's of turkeys/geese.

Its just a more accurate reading using mm for the spurs i guess. Not real sure the exact reasoning for it. Thats how they measure them at check in stations. They use what looks like a surenge and press it on the spurs and twist it one fill turn.
