I have a GW rider at the Q from Canada. He's riding a 2000 (1520) Wing and his alternator just went out. None of the local dealers have one. Is there a generic equivalent we might be able to get for him?

Don't know if it will fit his 2000.

'97 Goldwing Aspencade
Part # is 31100-MT2-015
"The terminal & plastic insulator are different where you connect the alternator battery wire. You have to take off the capacitor that is mounted on the Gold Wing alternator and rotate the front housing to match the holes from the Valkyrie model so that it will fit."
BTW it costs much less than the one on the Valk.

This is the alternator part no. to replace the one on the Valk

He is on a wing, not a Valk. You don't have many options. Maybe some has one to loan?

Might be able to have a local shop rebuild it. You could have it overnited from this guy: http://mysite.verizon.net/resp3jbj/
He has Valk ones in stock, not sure about for the Wing.

A local rebuilder should be able to get it done in less than one day.
I imagine you could pay a little more for faster service if you explain your on the road.
Most big truck repair shops could suggest a local rebuild shop.
Much cheaper than buying a replacement, probably under $100 with the express service.
