Lady made a left turn dead in front of us to get on a highway. We t-boned her and went head over heels, and hit the ground hard. We are pretty banged up, but ambulatory. The front end of the bike is trashed, it looks like i smashed the tank with my belly and the bags are gone. Keep us in good thoughts. We were in the ER till 4am Waiting on a Orthopedist appointment for us, Hand surgeon today, my finger is sliced up good, almost cut the tendons through.  We are very grateful we both walked away from this.

That is hard to hear.........it happenes too often, they keep turning in front of us.  Glad you are here to tell the story!  I feel less bad about scaring the one that turned in front of me the other night now, I was lucky I had just enough room to avoid...but thats not usually the case.  Prayers for healing from Florida

Sorry to hear this Bonzo, that sux.  Glad you are doing as well as you are.

Just a reminder, riders who haven't done this already - Make your bike more visible from the front with plenty of light, spread out to make a bigger profile.  I was hit this same way back in '70 - the bimbo said "He came outta nowhere" and "I thought I hit a dog."  Right.  Hit a 69 Buick ghetto sled with my Ducati at 70 and totalled both vehicles - her car jumped sideways 10 ft. The bitch was brain dead and should not have been driving.  After that I said, if I ever ride again, it will be on the biggest bike I can find, and I'll light it up like a locomotive.  27 years later, got the Valk, and put 5 lights in front - a pair of 50watt halogens on all the time, a pair of A/C landing lights, and a 130/90 headlight wired to modulator.  Anyone about to cross my path - I flip on the A/C lights, and the high beam with modulator - all wired to the hi/lo sw via relays.  No question, they cannot fail to see me and for it to register - my lights hurt their eyes.  I've never had an incident with these lights.

Glad you're both alive.  The injuries will heal.  I agree with Mark T on lighting.  A modulator has caught the attention many idiots that were fixing to pull out in front of me.

We're  not supposed to flash our lights, but that's not what MarkT and X-ring are talking about.

I have five lights on the front of my bike, the regular headlight, motolights, and halogens on a light bar.

I run with just the headlight and the motolights, and when I see someone who might pull into my path,
I flip on the halogens on the lightbar.

I've seen it catch numerous people's attention, their car was starting to roll and then ERRRT dead stop.

It is a habit now...

+1, was taken out by a semi March, 2011.  Glad to still be here and now the fun factor has been diminshed somewhat.

Prayers for quick healing both mental and physical.

Bonzo;
That going head over heels is one of the worst feelings... as it happens you are at the mercy of your worst fears! Sad
No need to tell you how do I know! Embarrassed

Am truly sorry to hear it. I hope your better half does well on her recovery too. Sad

Something is in the air... it almost happened to me yesterday. Good thing we saw each other on time to come to a full stop,
just inches from her front bumper. ???

I must say that her attention to passing traffic was key to prevent the worse. I made the point to thank her for it. Smiley

Again, riding these days with so many vehicles around it multiplies the chances for a close encounter of the worst kind! Cry

Multiple lights are OK but IMHO, you can be riding a ball of fire and still most inattentive drivers won't "see" the obvious!  tickedoff

I wish for  a fast recovery for both, your lady and you... and much health for years to come. Lips Sealed

Thank You all for all the well wishes! Motorcycles can be fixed, People a precious. I thank G-D almighty that my wive Patty is ok. The love of my live I am nothing with out her. When I saw her lying there I had an anxiety attack that was only overcome by the need to move her away from the leaking gas.  She is very sore today and is sleeping now 5 mg of valium and a 10 mg oxy cotin . The lady had 4 kids natural child birth, never took a narcotic in her life.
I was wearing leather jacket , half poice type helmet, short finger gloves Patty had an armoured mesh kevlar jacket and a full face helmet.
