IIRC...#38 slows and an assortment of #98, #100 and #102 mains.

I just put one on about 3 months ago and got kit #2 so I am not sure if it is the same main jet sizes but mine came with 108,110,112 115. It requires that you take out the baffle in the air box and the recommended jet size is the 110 which is what I put in.

Are you happy with the results?

I know some riders say to use different sizes in the front two I believe, but don't recall if it's larger in the front or not. I already have #38 slo jets in mine, not really looking forward to pulling the carbs again to install different mains but would if I felt it worthwhile. I know you said your mileage increased somewhat, that's always a good thing. Did it increase performance as well as mileage?

The mileage increased from 33/35 to 35/43 and there is more power and smoother running. This is with running in the 3800 to 4000 rpm range on the highway with a moderate head wind. But with a strong head wind in that same rpm range the mileage dipped to 28 and that happened only once. The rest is pretty average to what I have seen. I never really liked the full throttle of my Valk so I wanted to change that end and others had said that the 38 jets made the idle better so that was a no brainer. The research was, I talked to the tech at Factory Pro and they told me that the reason to have different jet sizes was the baffle in the air cleaner was diverting the flow and there for changing the requirements of the cylinders. I bought the #2 kit not the #1 kit and the requirement was to remove the baffle. I had heard the problems before that air box mods don't work but kinda trusted the tech at Factory Pro and went ahead and did it. I am happy with the results, before at 3/4 she seemed to be giving it all she had where now she really pulls hard all the way to wide open. Plus at idle she no longer has that slight variance. I couldn't believe the better mileage, that was the real shocker. This for me was a win win situation, as for you John you already have the 38 jets in for idle but I really feel it would still be a noticeable difference in the upper end if you felt the same way I did. Not to mention I noticed the main needle is cut slightly different and they include bowl screws that are allen bolts that will make any carb servicing in the future easier. I was really happy when they included these in the kit because I always hated those jap screws that strip. The recommended main jet size of the kit is the 110 and thats what I put in and thats where I left it. But as with all things Valk related I am kinda wondering what the 112 or the 115s will do if the 110 were that good. I don't know if you guys remember tricky rick he took the mains all the way up to 125 and had good results and this was of course with the individual air cleaners. Maybe some day when I am in a mood to experiment I will go up a couple of sizes. Not to mention with ethanol in the fuel jet size really should be increased to compensate for the fuel. When our bikes were made this wasn't really a problem.

i'm not that comfortable at cutting the airbox baffle,    .... yet.
i'll start with the nr #1 kit,
if i still need extra jets, these are easy to get or to modify the existing ones.

Thanks for the info.

You don't have to cut the airbox up the baffle is only held in there by melting the plastic, if you just pry abit the thing comes right out and you can reinstall it with glue or remelt the plastic with no problem.  Wink

Hi there
I'm from Switzerland and I bought the factory pro kit CRB-H78-1.0
There are two main jets of 95 and each 4 of 98, 102 and 105 in it!
The slow jets of 38, adjustable needles and new carb screws with which it is much easier to open the bottom without taking all the carbs out of the frame!
For me it was unluckily the wrong kit because the valk in Europe has mainjets of 78!
Now I installed everything original again except the needles and I changed the springs to the softer ones of the interstate.
Factory Pro suggest to have the two front carbs with mainjets one size smaller than the other four, but the needle clip one position lower (needle will be higher like that!)
I'm still not happy with my valk because since that operation I have problems at 3000rpm with full throttle!
Even when EVERYTHING was original again this problem stayed on - but ONLY with FULL THROTTLE!
When I open the gas just 1/4 the engine will run up to 7500 rpm.
My mechanic thinks of a CID problem which unfortunatly occurred in the same time, but I can't believe it?!
