I replaced my thermostat and radiator hoses with OEM Honda units yesterday. I wasn't having any problems with them. It's just that I ride a 97 and 15 years is old enough for those components to start worrying me.

My lower hose had a braided SS cover on it which was there when I bought the bike. I thought I could remove it and put it on the new hose but it was like "Chinese handcuffs" and I could not remove it and ruined it trying. No one local had SS covers so I had to install the hose without it so I could ride. I ordered a new one from Jegs.

Is there a trick to getting those covers off a hose or do they just have to be trashed?

I'm not talking about the "slinky type" my son has on his valk. This is made from braided SS wire but was not part of the hose, just a tight fitting cover.

I have removed them by pushing from the opposite end I want them to slide off on. Hope you understand what I mean. Just grab the end of the hose, grab the cover next to the hand holding the hose, and push. Just like you remove a chinese handcuff. cooldude

That's what I did wrong I think. Once I pulled on it I probably tightened it up hopelessly. Now I'm trying to picture the hoses with the "T" that I didn't see or change.  Sad

Got ya. I've never heard of one going bad. Honestly, I've never heard of a valk radiator hose going bad either. But they've eventually got to get old enough to do so.

Sweet. When the ol lady and I met, 27 years ago, I had a 13" TV, a kickin' stereo, a V65 and a bunch of rifles that lived in my "living room". Normal procedure was to wax the bike in the living room while watching TV with the sound turned down and the rock & roll shakin' all.

When the valk has a layer of snow on it out in the barn in the winter I kinda miss those days.

Frye,  When I was dating my now wife second wife.......the first time I brought her to the house and she saw the bike she exclaimed:

"YOU KEEP THE BIKE IN THE HOUSE?"

I thought oh crap here it comes (first wife didnt like it at all) so I simply replied "yeah"

What she said next simply was one of the many many reasons I asked her to marry me...

She said "I wouldnt want it any other way, I mean she is a member of the family"

Didya have to install a wider front door or move your living room out to the garage?
