So Cal

« on: May 05, 2012, 04:13:59 PM »

Cry I am generally clumsy, but last night took the cake. Embarrassed

I went to move the Valk, the top of which was covered with a nice blanket. I had forgotten that the windshield was resting on the seats
with extra cushions and all and cored by the blanket. Shocked

As you might figure it out by now, I pulled the blanket and with it the windshield came tumbling down to the garage floor. Sad

At this point I still did not know what fell! So I walked up to the blanket w/o realizing that a portion of the shield was uncovered. Roll Eyes
Well, I stepped on it and it moved scraping the garage floor with my boot on top of it. I has now several scratches that are very noticeable. Cry

Any recommendations of a product that could help remedy this situation?  Angry Embarrassed Lips Sealed

Nothing that I know of will take the scratches away permanently, but there are products out there that can minimize the scratches I think.  Here is a product I have heard of but never used and cannot hurt to try since fraction of cost of new windshield.

Or, guess just cough up the dough and either live with it or buy a new one.  That is what I had to do when I set my helmet on the seat and it dropped to the floor scratching the heck out of my faceshield.  Luckily,  only had to spend 15 bucks on a new faceshield, but the helmet was only 1 year old darn it.  Live and learn to be more careful I guess.

Something about new things and the cosmos. Seems that all is not settled until the newest object around has been scratched, dented or broken. Then, and only then, are things once again settled and it may take years for a second event. I feel your pain!  crazy2

Sorry about your misfortune. Replace it with a Clearview shield. I bought one and it's an excellent product, better than OEM. They are selling only the shield and you use your exisiting hardware. I bought a 21 inch same as the old one.

And....if you scratch it you can polish it out because it doesn't have the outer coating on it like the OEM shield. I'd never replace an OEM setup with OEM plastic.

How old is the windshield?  Can't hurt to see if Honda will work with you on a replacement if you decide to go that way.  You never know unless you try.

Good thought, Thumper. I'll give it a shot...  Wink

However, as BF believes, everything under the skies and beyond the gates of hell is indeed Obama's fault. So he's destined for Hell.  ??? Sad

I was one of those "you can't beat OEM" for the last 13 years,  cost me big bucks for two replacement windshields.  Last one peeled badly shortly after the years warranty was up.  Finally took the advice of many here on this board and bought a clearview at 1/2 the price.  AND it's twice as good as the original.

Let them know that any help they give, or lack thereof, will be published on a very active national motorcycle forum.

Like I said....it can't hurt.
