I run a car tire, and when a stone lets loose inside the fender it sounds kinda like that. I suppose if there's rust in the rear shocks it might sound like that breaking off, but it would have to be a lot of rust.

I ran over a pop bottle once and got that sound. I would have seen it if the kid didn't have it hidden under his jacket.. Grin Grin Grin Grin

Hopefully it's nothing.
Try another test ride, check for something stuck in your tires. If you have modified exhaust pull the clutch lever in and try some controlled heavy braking, if you here it again try to narrow down front or rear. Then try some hard left and right turns.
I'm thinking could be brakes, wheel bearings, or nothing at all?
U-joint you will feel first before you here it. These are some things that have made noises for me, although I never experienced the noise you describe?

If you have a lift.  lift the rear, secure the bike, grab the lower (closest to the ground) part of the wheel/tire and try to move it side to side.  If you can feel evena  tiny movement like a "tic tic" then its a bad wheel bearing, probably left one.
