Hi everyone, been a LONG while.

Question:
I am going through my bike front to back fixing and cleaning up the entire bike.
one of the front seals blew, so I am buffing out the aluminum and cleaning up the grease, dust and little rust. Front Fairing is off right now.
Most easy, just a LOT of elbow grease, some no so,

I.E. the front timing cover has bumps in it where the chrome has blistered. not broken open yet but looks ugly. the rest of the chrome is just not very chrome anymore. timing cover takes a lot of abuse.

anyway, anyone know of a decent but not expensive chrome plating place?

But I am also thinking if striping the chrome and painting it with epoxy black paint.  or even power coated.  my finances are leaning toward glass-beading the chrome off and painting.

any suggestions would be great.

Get a bottle of White Diamond metal polish and try that first.  The stuff is magic.  Won't cure the bubbling, but it will make the rest of it look new again.

Around here (metro Detroit) there are powdercoaters everywhere, so competition keeps costs down.

Powdercoating should be tough as nails, and as a matter of fact Valk frames are powdercoated.
It will be a tougher surface treatment than epoxy paint.

Yea, I don't get on very often. I have been working hard and keeping things from disappearing in this economy as it is.

I buffed out the timing cover a little bit and it is coming back, but definitely not in its old glory.
if it stays bad, then I definitely will go with the powder coat.

 Good to hear from you again. My cover is also showing it age, with almost 150k on it a lot of thing had beaten it up pretty good.

I took the cover from my first valk in to the chrome shop.  $200 but it looked like new.   a bit pricey.  I would think you guys down south should be able to get it done for a lot less
