something about "Medical" makes me want to ask why you need it if your wife works for a hospital and you're covered with her insurance?  another words, why by more then you need?

I learned that quick when I crashed. My wife has medical at her work, a great policy, I carried what I thought was enough on the bike, covered the deductable UNTIL I found out- charges for specialists- if injuries cross years new deductable- the list goes on. That is not even getting into the fact that her arm still does not work, nerve damage, almost a year now. Carry alot of insurance and call Oss's friends after the crash, the first day you are able.

Does your wife's policy cover not working?  What if you cannot work for a year?  Does her health insurance pay anything?  NO.  But, this policy will.  It in effect becomes the liability policy of the other driver.  If he has 10,000 liability, and your costs, besides medical, are $100,000, this will pay them.  Probably THE most important policy.  Ask OSS.

I think MP is talking about UI/UIM (uninsured/underinsured).  You should have the most you can afford.  i have $500k at a reasonable price from progressive.

Sorry to hear about your 'event'.  Good to hear you're (will be) on the mend.

In case your ride is totaled, I saw a listing come up today on craigslist:

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/2994714147.html

I don't think its too far from you but I'd be happy to go check it out for you if you want.

Lemme know...

Again please forgive the medicated response. After i had a small accident last year i was made aware mc insurance were not covered under no fault. I have decent med insurance. however for about 170 $ year i added 25000 med per person a year. my med ins through the job has a 300 deductible per specialist, 100$ for er treatment 30sca deductible per ct scan then pay 90% some fee for x-rays also . I also have the supplemental underissured rider. meaning if she has the minimum, i get my maximum. That stuff can add up. I will also say this as of January 1 I purchased AFLAC injury and Cancer coverage. I have not got around to look at the benefits but they are adding up. They pay in addition to any benefits your other insurances pay. n your pocket. The bottom line I hug my wife  kids and grand kids every day.
Bike was totaled, frame bent and the settlement was excellent.
The other driver was locked up for three felony suspensions and sited for failure to yield

Damn, never saw a rotor bent like that.

Must have been a very hard hit.

Glad to hear you are healing well.

Just remember to follow the Physical Therapy instructor.

Thoughts and prayers for a full healing process from Iowa.

My wife worked at the hospital where I was treated after my wreck 5 yrs ago.  They refused to file my accident with their insurance company due to it being a motor vehicle accident.  They came after me for $85,000.  All the other medical companies were paid by my medical insurance with no problem.  That is why I now have medical and underinsured insurance.

...Glad Progressive took care of you my friend. Hope your injuries are on the mend.
I have Progressive also and have been satisfied with their service so far.
Im curious if you had any "after market" accessories on your bike, and if
so if Progressive compensated you under the 3K Accessory coverage they
provide as part of their standard policy ?
