Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: May 06, 2012, 06:44:33 PM »

We hooked up in Knoxville,Tennessee this morning with plans of ridin' with a out of state rider who sent me a text claimin' he had made other plans  Angry You would think if you was going to stand a group of riders up who all had made plans to ride with you at the least you could make a call. He did'nt F up  the ride in fact the ride today was outstanding. We had ( 3 ) Valkyrie's ...Lucky 13...Mr Whiskey...Smokin'joe ( 2 ) Kawasaki's ...Jack and Jimmy and Larry on his Yahama. After back-tracking 40 plus miles the ride was on . First picture's is the Clinch River below beautiful Norris Lake this river is known for its huge brown and rainbow trout.

Weather today was perfect with nothing but dry roads and awesome sunshine. We took a break below High Bridge just as you enter The Big South Fork.

Next stop was Hazard Cave near the the Tennessee / Kentucky border .This is a graet place to check out if you are ever in the area. Not only is it cool ,it's cool its like being in God's A/C.

This was DG's ( Mr Whiskey ) first time here he was diggin' this place.

We rode on into Kentucky and had lunch in Monticello at this Mom and Pop place that had a outstanding buffet the food and price was great less than $10.00.Picture below when we crossed the line....Yeah I love y'all too.

We took all backroads today and rode some of the best roads this part of Tennessee and Kentucky has to offer.Last time we was here the place was trashed with busted window's , broke down doors and even had a dead dog inside  Sad  Someone has been busy getting this place back up and running. I wish them well.

I'm not sure what this river is called  Undecided maybe Clear Fork ?

I took several shots but could'nt get the powerlines out of any of the good ones.

The pictures above are about 15 miles from The Great State Of Tennessee. You enter Scott County at the line. Never knew why it was called Scott County until today.

Below is " The Money Shot " taken on the old abandoned bridge that High Bridge replaced years ago.We had a great group today all excellent riders they stayed in the pack all day  cooldude  We rode close to 300 miles today.

What a great ride I missed with some awesome Dudes!  I got the bike hauled back to the house by a friend that lives down the road from me Joe.  The ignition switch is pretty much trash but I did get the bike running again.  I need to get a new ignition switch but have it operational until I can get one.  Sorry I had to miss this one.  I was on my way until I stopped for gas and the key wouldn't turn in the switch after filling up.  Just luck that I was only 3 miles from home!

Shucks, so close and yet so far.  So day I'm gonna be able to ride with ya Joe.  Timing is always the issue.  Unfortunately, the vast majority of the rides I read about are normally on the weekends and I work while most folks are out in the wind.  Takes an act of Congress for me to be off on a Sunday.  Regardless, I always watch your threads for the planned ride hoping that someday, I'll be able to say I rode with Smok'n Joe.   cooldude  Maybe next time.  Great pics.

Maybe you could make it to rainman's Mother's Day Ride on the Saturday before Mother's Day.  Looks like everyone is meeting up in Smithfield, KY.  Just a suggestion.  Wink

Just for the record Eric is joking he was'nt on his way to meet us ( he would have showed-up if he was coming ). The dude that stood us up after we ALL rode out of the way to meet him will never have another opportunity to do so again.
