Had same problem on my 2000 interstate found it was the drive ring behind the drive gear the ears were no longer driving the drive gear the ring is located in the front wheel hub. Has 2 tabs that drive the gear box that drives the speed sensor if you want give me a call and i will tell you how to diagnose it just pm me for phone #

That happened to me (2K I/S) and I bought the $90.00 sensor cable with no results.
Checked my 98 std. and it had the same drive unit.
Got a used drive unit from Pinwall for only $10.00 and now all is well.

Had that happen on my 99' I/S. Replaced the speedometer sensor, all better. When I took the sensor apart, I found water in it. Diect line has it for $71.93 part no. 37700-MBY-008 (replaces 37700-MBY-000) .

The sensor in my 99 Interstate went bad from water inside. I got a used one from Pinwall 6 years ago for 25.00 shipped, and no more problems cooldude
