So your bike has how many cylinders?

Universal City, TX

« on: May 09, 2012, 02:03:22 PM »

Put the house on the market 30 April and sold it today, pending all inspections and what not.  So now I need to find the best way to cover the bike as we move into our RV while we build a new house.  Can't decide between a portable shelter or just a cover.  Don't think rain will be a real issue here in South Texas.  Any suggestions?

Hey Sarge Dan , if it were me , I would have a shelter of some type high enuf to stand up in so in case you do have to work on your Valk , your OUT OF THE SUN especially down here and any other elements  coolsmiley  .....  and IF it does rain , again IF , you and your bike are not standing in the mud   tickedoff  ....  just my .02 cents ...  Thanks the Geezer crazy2

Shelter or even a storage locker.  I stored my '81 goldwing on the porch, under cover and with a cover on it, for a couple of months while my sister-in-law loaded up the garage with her stuff after moving.  In that time, the brake fluid absorbed water and the brakes locked up, plus rust started in.  Doesn't take a lot and being exposed under a cover doesn't work for long.

IMHO.

When I was still living in an apartment, by saltwater no less, I was thinking of this: http://www.cycleshell.com/ instead of fighting with a regular full cover. (not a customer, yada yada)

And I'll second the statement about just a cover won't do for regular storage. My brakes didn't lock up, probably since I was using it regular, but the rust got a good start...

Thanks all, I like the cycleshell to have with me in the RV, but will also rent a smaller stoarge unit nearby for those "bad" weather days.  The Valk has just become my primary transportation....darn the bad luck. Wink

Well, the deal fell through on the house.  Not a huge loss in my mind, more time to spend riding on the weekends while realtors do their thing.  Gotta look on the bright side right...
