Helped a friend with a S/C Valk today and found that it did not have the vent hose (the one that always seems to get pinched when you reinstall the gas tank).

That Valk had just the open nipple and it seemed to run just fine.

Has anyone else just run theirs without the vent tube?

you'll just get a little splash on top of the engine if you overfill the tank.

If you were to fill your tank and park in the sun when the fuel expands it will drain on the motor. May have a hard time keeping the chrome on your alternator cover.

OK, I will use the vent hose.
But I don't care about the chrome on the Alt cover as I've roughed mine up and painted it satin black (currently my favorite M/C color).

I disconnected the vent hose years ago.  No problems. But then I never fill the tank and immediately park in the sun. Always ride a ways after a full fillup.

Thanks Mark.
I was hoping to hear from those that have chosen not to use the vent hose.

Is that a 450 Ducati in your posts?

I thought the same question toinight when I took my tank off. I've never had gas under my bike. And I always fill it!

the hose is also a safety item for fumes that could ignite from a spark.  no hose and u have a short path to kaboom  Cry
