Ohh, I didn’t want to believe it. OK, I can ride like this. Just don’t go over 90. There was a huge storm about three weeks ago in the Houston area on a Friday, in the afternoon. It was the day my clutch slipped that morning, before dawn. I checked the fluid, the master cylinder, the slave cylinder and many of those attempts resulted in taking off to determine if the situation had been remedied. NO, it was the CLUTCH. Wow, I did not want to start rebuilding a clutch. So, I read everything that I could find. “special tools?, hydraulic press… I don’t think so. I was freaking out. The local Stealer was so rude that I made up my mind to ‘get er done’. I used an impact to remove the inner clutch nut and used the end of a fence post hammer for the spring compression tool. I put the inner clutch under the truck w/ a hydraulic jack to compress the spring, but there wasn’t enough room for my head the snap ring pliers and a flashlight (in my mouth) to remove the snap ring. With bloody elbows I took the clutch pack to the bench. And had an epiphany. “Dummy, just drill two holes in the work bench and put all thread. Where is that old piece of bed frame I was saving? That’s all it took. (Get a good set of snap ring pliers) There they were – rivets from the compression plate. I only ordered what I needed. $117.00, including some peripheral parts on the clutch lever and banjo bolts. Viola, I was on top of the world. (14 days later) Getting the inner clutch stabbed without having the outer basket on the bench was a PITA. Almost gave up. But about an hour later I got the new assembly stabbed back in the outer basket. Learning is good. It makes you a better person. I was so pumped that I have encouraged Dian to go off with me for a few days to celebrate. We are going to do the pig trail with my son on the 24th. WooHoo! Botar

Thanks for the kind words, anyone that has ever fixed anything knows about how it feels when you don't know what you are doing. And Bobby you are right. What was all the BS about. When you don't know it would take a miracle to make it happen and when you do know, you wonder why everyone can't do it. Dian and I went to Yankee's (in Carlos) with my son Bryce. What a beautiful day. We came back through Magnolia and we were kinda tired after 260 miles when we got home. Happy Mother's day Dian! (it was her idea to go riding) Heh heh..... Blotar
