Just got a Garmin Nuvi 205 GPS unit. On my '07 Ultra I just plug it into the cig lighter plug. On my '98 Valkyrie Tourer. ??? Can any one give some input on how they rigged up their GPS plug in on their Tourer?

I got a Zumo 550. I wired it in directly to a hot wire. That way do not have to restart after stopping. It takes so little power, it does not matter. When stopping for a long time, I either take it in with me to the motel, or if at home, I just turn it off manually. MP

Put a cigarette lighter plug in an old bullet shaped light housing I had. Turned out kinda nice, I see Kury sells one now.

I bought a hardwire kit on Ebay for twenty something dollars. I ran that wire under tank to my aux fuse panel, also with a mic cord extension exiting in front of seat so I can hook up earbuds.

I have an auxiliary fuse panel that I mounted under my seat. I wired my Zumo directly to that. The Zumo came with a fused connector so I just wired it straight to the hot side of the fuse panel. It's double fused but it draws so little power that it really doesn't matter. On the other hand, I think that if you wire it to be on with the ignition, that it will revert to battery power when you shut off the ignition.

Since I hate having cigarette lighters anywhere obvious and protrusions hanging off my handlebars, I mounted a Tom Tom One nesteled right down on the top of the headlight. I took the stock plug-in power supply that came with the GPS and removed the bulky plastic housing. Then I just wired the innards into one of the (hot when ignition on) headlight wires inside my headlight housing. So the whole power supply is out of sight inside the light housing. I ran the pigtail connector out the rear grommet of the headlight housing and left about 6-8 inches hanging out. Then I just velcroed the back of the GPS right on the top of the housing. The rig works well for me. The two draw-backs ar that it's a little small and far away to see and you have to take your glove off the program the touch screen. The voice commands come through enough so I can hear it over an ideling engine or I can tell it's trying to bitch at me when I'm at highway speed. Overall I'm very pleased with it.[imghttp://vrcc.photostash.com/vrcc_28306/valk3.jpg][/img]
