The service manual covers 1997-2003. Its available free on line if you want it. Copy it to your computer and print tha pages as needed...then it always stays clean

DirectLine has all of them......

The color wiring diagram in the Clymers is invaluable IMHO.

You can't ever have too many manuals.   cooldude

I've done this and although I think it's better than nothing (and the price is great) I have a hard time reading some of the info, and the pictures lack clarity, usually on the stuff I really need.

I have bought the Clymers manual and as stated, it's invaluable!

Thanks alot but as one reply said (you can not have too many manuels) SO I found the Clymer & Honda manuel & ordered both. 8 months ago the 99 was running rough rough rough at slow speed & like a rockett @40 & up.......anyway they said clogged carbs....$$$$$ later it ran better...but not like it did ....couple months later & a few hundred miles it refused to idel & stumble a little........I took it back & now they say vacume leaks....soooooo I said ok but first I want to put the stock exhaust back on which I did .......at that point it began to idel & run at high speed much better.......I took it back for the vacume ck-up........the next day they called me & said I needed a carb job & 6 plugs.......I told them I would pick it  & live with it...........Went to get it & dang it all........it was FUEL LOCKED ! what terrible timeing !!!! I got my trailer & took it home.....Back in the 60s I had a BSA dealer teach me if I was gonna ride I'd better get some metric tools & pay attention....I guess I just kinda forgot   THANKS HARRY

Its a familiar story...both bike (carbs) and dealer.  Its all mostly about money....from your pocket to theirs. But I have to honestly say, I had a higher level of quality maintenance with Honda than I do with my Yamaha.

All I can say is thank heaven for forums like this one and the Road Star Riders forum and the members who are willing to help one another. They have all been a great help to keep the Valk & R*S running.
