Stock is 13 inches.  Anything shorter will lower it.  11.5 is about the lowest most go though.

i have 11 inch shocks on my standard but  the pipes might be a bit too close to a set of hard bags not sure about that anything shorter and the side stand might need to be cut a bit shorter mine feels like it wants to tip over and needs to be checked with the wheel both ways when parking it

I have 12" progressives on my tourer. Standard spring. Softest setting. I weigh 195. Rides nice with just me. Rides even better 2 up. No bottoming out. Lowered the bike a bit. I had measured my stock shocks with me on the bike on #2 setting at 11.75". The progressives sag to 11.25" sitting on the bike. It was enough to go from on toes to flat foot. Setting the stocks shocks on a soft setting just to achieve a lower ride height made for a way too soft of a ride. Bike is a bit more upright on the side stand, but no problems. I thought the stock shock height made for too much of a lean angle on the side stand anyways, so a little less actually makes it easier to pick up.

Were did you find 11" shocks?  11.5" shocks from either Works or Progressive are as short a shock as I've ever seen available.  Didn't know 11" were available anywhere.

I put 11.5 Progressives on mine and made a world of difference... Very smooth and lowered it for more comfort sinceI'm 5'8" on a good day.
Here's an old pic before the saddlebags, shield and various other things were put on.

cooldude Just put 11 inch (412's)on my 98 standard, also  have a 55 series Triple Tread on rear. Made a big change with planting my feet, when trying to park in a crowded area.  Bert

I have a used set of Progressive 412-4230, 11.5 inch shocks for sale. They need new bushings I believe but otherwise are fine. I took them off because I didn't like how they rode. If anyone is interested send me a PM or email at aeadie@sc.rr.com.
