I am trying to remove the pinion bearing retainer from the final drive. It is item #10 on the Final Driven Gear drawing. I do not have the special Honda tool. What do other people use other than a hammer and punch? I am thinking about making something myself, but is there an easier way?

Hammer & punch worked for me. Make sure you mark it so it goes back the same position if you are not changing the bearings.

All you need is a punch and hammer.  Move around, don't beat on the same tooth all the time.
