I'm not a Professional........but

..... I did stay in a Holiday Inn once.....and decided to build a little greenhouse......8'x10'.......

started out as a pile of lumber......




little bit of saw work.....



a few screws.....




a little post hole digging......





Don't forget some screws in the legs......





Mix a little concrete in a wheelbarrow.....make sure the foundation is level.......





Dig out the middle to make room for some gravel......





Add some landscape fabric......to keep the weeds from coming through the gravel......








Wheel in 2,700lbs of gravel......








Round up a few tools....assorted metal brackets, screws.....and let the party begin.....





Slowly but surely it starts to come together....












Add an inside water spigot ......




Add the shelves....










Add some plastic to the sides.....just a temporary thing until I add the poly to the sides later on.....




Time to add the door.....











I guess the Wife is right.....no room left in the backyard for anymore buildings!!........





Guess it's time to add some plants and see if it was a good idea.......hope it wasn't a waste of a $$.......

Nice job Mr Steamer.   You may want to consider adding a vent/fan at some point to keep it from becoming a sauna in the summer - might not be a necessity in your climate, but something to consider.

I left the area above the top sill open on both ends.....to let the heat out.......and when I put the hard, clear siding on it, I plan on adding a hinged vent on that taller right side.....the door has a screen on the bottom.....cool air in and hot air out the top.......

BUT as a professional I just wanna put it out there that pouring concrete around posts..especially non pressure treated will cause to posts to rot twice as quick..for 2 reasons.. reason 1 is the acids in the concrete..reason b is water that gets in between the crete and the post cant get out.. jus sayn

I have gravel in the bottom of the holes and it is pressure treated wood.....it'll be there long enough to get my $$'s worth out of it......

well cool.. from 2500 miles away it looked like yellow pine.. I just built 3 fancy greenhouses with thermostatically control venting and fans which is spendy.. that said ya MIGHT need some sort of exhaust fan rather than just openings.. ona those thermometers with a deal to tell you how hot it got while you were at work might be a good investment..

2a. I have sketch right here of the temporary tomato structure.... (dimensions may be modified of course     )
3. setbacks, of course I checked on those  - even though it is temporary and all....
4. and to show how temporary it is, can you believe that my wife wants me to take it down this summer and move it ten feet to the left!?....

They can be a lot of fun to work in. I have a 28'X98' greenhouse out in my field. Don't grow anymore as propane is so costly now. Enjoy.

i had an uncle in Lethebridge Canada that made a green house for his fig tree!!  (it's an italian thing) 

this green house was SOOOO amazing!!  he had it automated!!  climate controlled and everything!!  when it got too hot he had it set up to open a sky light and window, when it was too cold, an electric furnace, too dry, auto sprinklers, the works!!  and in the middle, ONE eight foot tall fig tree!!

When I had my gas & welding supply company, I used to sell a guy a 25lb cyl. of Co2 each week. He told us he used it in his 24x24 greenhouse to grow some type of smoking tobacco. He was making over a $100,000. a year....just throwing that at you Stanley

forgot to ask, why the need for the screws sticking out in the legs?  Is it to help anchor the wooden posts in the cement so it doesn't shift or push up overtime once concreted into the ground?

Yeah........$$ IS an object to me!!......Greenhouses can be VERY expensive with all the automation.......I actually got interested in Horticulture in the 7th grade...we had it offered in Vocational classes.....I took it every year in High School and by the time I was a Senior, I was the "manager" of our greenhouse.........growing stuff is fairly easy, SELLING it is another matter.....that's why I went to school for the actual Landscaping end of things.....I wouldn't want to run greenhouses commercially.....I just wanted this basic design to extend my season a little and to keep the squirrels out of my garden!!........
