They were insured but now we start the jump thru our hoops to get situation rectified. I was told it could take over a month. Private seller is being very helpful trying to resolve on his end. He had the UPS store do the packing and shipping so I don't see why it should take a month to resolve. Oh well. How do you find a good plastic welder to do the repair and how much is a little crack repair gonna cost? Looks like was dropped on the corner and about 3 - 2 inch cracks run from the contact point. Honda sells just the bottom shell for around $600. Was insured for $1500 when shipped. Thanks for letting me vent, was hoping to get these installed this week.......... tickedoff

print out the price showing $600 from Honda and submit it to the insurance...should be no problem since the package was insured for $1500.  Then buy a new one.

If it is ABS it will be easy to repair. Fiberglass is a little harder, take it to a boat repair shop.

My left bag was severely cracked in multiple places (they were the almost survivors of an Interstate crash) when I took them to the painter.  He repaired them to flawless condition for little or no addition to his painting fee.

David, Any good body man can fix them. I would submit the insurance claim for a new bottom , then take them to a body shop for a fix & paint to match your bike.

+1

Had an IS trunk broken up.  They did settle OK, but they did take the trunk.  So, you will not be able to get paid for it.  You can either get repaired on your own dime, or get settlement, and buy another.  you will need paint. if repair.  Be sure to include that too.

Be sure to check and see if the color to match yours is actually available.   Some things showup on parts, but are NOT available.

Guess you weren't home and the guy pitched them over the 8 foot fence????

Just joking due to the rash of videos showing these tendencies. I do feel your pain though, waiting for a new goody only to be disappointed on arrival. It sucks. Good luck with your claim. I am starting a Paypal claim today for a product not received as advertised. I have a feeling of dread...

David, Just curious...Are they honda bags? How are you going to paint them? Here is a set I really like on a bumblebee.

Sorry to here that Dave, I think Willow hit the nail on the head though.  Take it to your painter after you collect on the insurance.  It may work out even better for you.....Good luck, can't wait to see the finished product.

Sorry.  UPS keeps the damaged parts.  You can get paid, OR you can fix it yourself.  But, not both.

Thanks for the replys. I told them I just want my bags whole / not a big payoff. Told them if they leave me the old bag to salvage the gasket, reflector and hinges etc. I would be satisfied with them just getting me a bag bottom. If they want the old bag they will have to buy all the spare parts to outfit it as it needs to be also, which would be more costly to them. We will see how reasonable they are. They haven't made a decision yet. UPS was/is more concerned that I burned the box they came in as they want to see if the store packed them well enough. If I pulled everything out of the box and unwrap it how can they tell how it was packed anyway. I was in Chicago when they arrived. My mother in law met the ups guy and had him put them in the house. He showed her the ripped and pushed in box but said "things look undamaged. If there is a problem just contact seller as it's insured." He never said I had to save the HUGE box and peanuts.  uglystupid2 We will seee what happens. Thanks again. Dave
