Think Mobil 1 car oil fully synthetic is ok to use in the Valk? It doesn't say energy conservative. They got a great deal at Advance Auto, 5 qts for $32 including a Mobil filter! Anybody running it? Thanks

What, the political threads gotten too boring? I've used Mobil 1 15w50 in my Valk since day one 107,000 miles so far... I did hafta replace the clutch at 105,000, but I blame that more on having to lug my large carcass around for 105,000 miles, and me NOT being gentle on her... at all...

OK I'll ask. What really is the deliverance between the mobile 1 and mobile 1 motorcycle oil? I'm sure some one here knows and would love to tell.

Mobil 1 is a fully synthetic oil that I run in my vehicles. I have been using Mobil 4T MC racing oil which is a great oil but I'm tired of paying $12 a qt!

Thanks Serk, you really proved it with that mileage! I'm glad I can use regular car oil bc that Mobil 4T has been costing a small fortune! Yep, I think the poor folks are bored!

yep mobile one is perfectly suited for the valk, after all it is basically a car engine with a tranny attached..i have had 3 valks all except one with over 100,000 miles on them and not a problem at all.... now that i ride a harley and the engine sounds like every nut and bolt is loose and there is 15 thousandths clearance on the rods i am afraid to run anything less than 50 weight,, i will run mobile one it it also,,even mobile one gear oil in the tranny

Can I play???
Can I?
Can I?
I have used 10 - 40 for the past 190,000 miles. In my ex Valkyrie and KLR and in my current ST1300 (93,000 miles) unless I'm goign on a long trip then I'll chuck in some synthetic.
I change the regular oil at 3 to 4,000 miles depending on what else I'm doing to the bike.
What kind of oil????
Well I've got 2 jugs of Castrol GTX 10-40 I picked up with filters for $12 a jug after rebates and another jug of an oil I can't remember the name of on the shelf in my garage.
Not matter the oil, change it on a regular basis along with the filter and you'll be good. Don't sweat it, sleep at night.

OMG!! I hope you guys aren't running the dreaded Mobil 1/car tire combination!!! One or the other is okay, but the two together could upset the whole space/time consortium thingy and then not only a flaming death but 4 more years of Obama! Oh, the humanity!
And now we return you to our regularly scheduled programing....

My bike shifts more smoothly with Mobil 1 15w-50 than with Honda, Royal Purple, or Rotella... I hope you guys aren't running the dreaded Mobil 1/car tire combination!!! Nope, I'm running the dreaded Mobil 1/asymmetrical van tire with >31,000 miles on it combination!

I suggest 20w50 Mobil 1 Air Cooled Engine Oil.
They claim on the Jug that it will satisfy a Harley in the Engine, The Primary(Clutch), and Transmission.
S&S Engines are certifying this.
Also a K&N Filter should do the trick.
But in a Water Cooled Valk, just about any 10w40 on sale would make it last as long as DDT's bike with 400,000+ on it.
Just change it every 4000 and the filter every 8000. This is the interval in the manual I believe, if not sure check the manual
Too much is said about who's oil is better and car oil is better than most motorcycle specific oils in just about any test.
Only diff is that the motorcycle stuff just costs more, much more.

That's it Al, when it's for a motorcycle the price goes up. As long as the round seal on back does not say energy conservative, it's good for a motorcycle.
