Well, here's what it looked like thru my welding helmet. Not exactly a ring of fire, more like a big smiley face.

The eclipse in Or.started out bad with the clouds but they cleared for the most part.I had my telescope out and got to show about 100 people the eclipse at the local park.We had a great time and a BBQ chicken after the public left. Our astronomy club had about ten telescopes set up.I have a 4" refractor and a projection screen so everybody can see without looking thru the eyepiece. It makes for a good hobby when not riding my valk.

We were in an area that the eclipse was suppose to be total. But we were a bit late in getting glasses to watch it, all sold out and no welding helmet. My daughter/Son had gotten several devices to watch the event. Then the clouds came in. WE saw part of the eclipse on paper using binoc's. Then at the last minute the clouds parted sort of and we could actually look at the sun/moon thur the clouds. Really cool. (and no effect on the eyes this morning). Won't get to see it again till 2017.
