I would like some opinions on what you folks think the best apparatus is for synchronizing the Carbs on our Valkyrie's. I have seen some that use only 2 gauges other prefer 6. Please let me know. Thanks Rick

Six gauges are better than two. While adjusting one carb, you will see the other gauges moving around.

I've read in m/c magazines that the best way to synch your carbs is with an exhaust gas analyzer.  Not sure where to get that done though...

+1 using a single gauge. This way you elliminate any descrepency in the gauge accuracy between gauges.

Can't sync carbs with a EGA you can adjust the mix though and they would be really good for the idle mix

Using a single gauge will give you an approximate adjustment as the vacuum changes as you adjust other carbs. You will see this using a multi gauge setup. I use the Moragn and have to double check even with the four gauges. Really good tool. You'll be a hit with your friends that don't have one!

I use two of the JC Whitney mercury manometers.  This is two sets of 4 so I have two unused tubes.  Gets all 6 done at once.  Use a T on # 6 to keep vacuum to petcock.

I am kinda partial,,,

Yes I know there are 7 gauges, but that's the Eagle Scout in me "be prepaired" it's for possible failure or verification if needed.
So make your own.

The best kind of tool would be the one where you can observe all six cylinders at the same time since it is a comparative adjustment that synchronizing is doing.

Lars-

Is there a certain procedure to follow with the TwinMax to do all 6 carbs equally, or do you just do each carb individually?
