I don't think 2 wrongs make a right. The young prius driver did not deserve to get beat up by the bikers, only scolded upon and fined and possibly taken his license away. Raising his insurance rates would be a given along with points taken off of his license. If he would've killed the 2 bikers, then for sure license taken away and heavily fined and in prison for sure. Just be glad the 2 bikers did not get killed. I am so furiated at people, mostly younger, being distracted on a daily basis by cell phones talking or texting they have no clue that their 3-5 second distraction could easily kill someone else. I have seen it on a daily basis and it is only going to get worse until law enforcement steps up NO cell phone texting or making calls while driving down the road. And yet, law enforcement here in WI gives 10 dollar tickets for not buckling your seat belt. I say heavier fines should be in place for any type of cell phone use period.
I garuntee you that is they gave out ass kickings rather than fines, the distracted driving would decrease. I'm talking good old fashion ghetto beatins. Unfortunately, that would be illegal.
(BTW, I agree with you that the beating of the Prius driver was inappropriate, but I'll bet it made the biker's feel good.)
