I have ridden GW for 25 years!! I am now looking to buy a Valk. I am concerned aboout the seating comfort for my wife. I see many with Mustang and corbin and ultimate. Which if any will provide comparable comfort to the GW?

The Mustang is a butt burner after about an hour and a half.....it's a firm seat.  The Ultimate is a very wide and cushy seat.  Don't have any experience with the Corbins.  But I'd bet the wife would perfer the Ultimate.

Wife loves the Russell Day Long. Did not like the stock seat for all day

How many hours will your wife stay in the saddle?

Also consider the air hawk cushion, inflate to just where your ass almost can feel the seat beneath and you can ride all day. Made for folks who ARE stuck all day in a seat

Well, my wife and I are not in agreement on this.  I loved our old Corbin but Rebecca prefers our new Mustang.  I haven't tried the Ultimate...yet.

Butts Vary and as always physical makeup varies as well.

To get it right, if she rides a lot or a little and you plan on keeping hte bike,

Russell Day Long is all the Rage.

If you don't have the patiance or money for a Russell.

Get a Ultimate.

Most people like them and they fit your bike really well.

I got the Ultimate for my wife. You also need the Ultimate backrest for the passenger. Helps the back. Went from 30 mile rest stops to refuel rest stops. At the time I bought mine, they guaranteed satisfaction or you could send it back, (non custom orders)

Has anyone tried using a black sheepskin cover for rider and passenger comfort over stock seat with good results in terms of comfort and not getting too hot/sweaty on 90+ degree days?  I found a local fur shop willing to cut a piece over my stock I/S seat for around 100 bucks.  Would you pay the extra 20 bucks or so to go down the full length sides (about another 4" down) of the one piece stock I/S seat along with adding the black sheepskin to the back of the passenger seat if that would work also?

We have had very good luck with Diamond Custom Seats. We are on our fourth Diamond Seat, on 3 Gold Wings & on the Valkyrie. We have also have had the Ultimate. Diamond is very comfortable & less money that the Ultimate. They build it to your specifications, height, weight & inseam. Russell requires you send them your basepan, Diamond builds their own.
Give Mark a call, a great guy to work with.

Have had the Corbin set up for twelve years. Seat is "okay" for me.  The passenger seat is like a brick. The wife unit has hated it since day two. We have sheep skins we throw over on extended rides.  Just did a four-day'er a couple weeks ago. 80` to 90` degree days. With the sheep skin I was good for all day. Wife unit has a foam pad I purchased from a medical supply place. The pad is for those who are confined to a wheel chair "all" the time. 3 inch thick memory foam. The foam pad on top the Corbin, with a sheep skin thrown over the top . . . she is good for all day.

If you are looking at a Standard or Tourer, I doubt that either will match the Goldwing for passenger comfort.  That said, I doubt this matches a Goldwing, but should be about as comfortable as the front (rider/driver) seat from a 1997 to 1999 Valk (as that is what I cut down to use as a passenger seat).

If anyone wants to experiment I have an old Corbin passenger pillion in the garage. The pan is steel and the leather is riveted on. On my driver’s seat I drilled the rivets, cut out some foam and added softer foam, made it comfy. After I sold my Valk driver’s seat became the seat on my shop chair so the pillion is still in garage roof, free for shipping cost. Note it is old, leather is old but not torn. PM if interested. Update: Pillion is spoken for.

I've got a '98 Standard.  The wife referred to the stock seat as a slightly padded brick.  Got the Ultimate with backrest and she's a much happier camper.  If momma ain't happy.........

+1 on the Ultimates.
