When I got my '99 Std I did the desmog, and now have to replace the non-stock vacuum caps every few months.  Anyone have a source for good vacuum caps that don't rot and crack within 2-3months.  I'm getting really good at/really tired of changing them.

I used 1 inch. pieces of the old vacuum hose and just put tight screws in the ends.  Its been 2 years and 30k miles still look good.

Silicone hose from a hobby store works real well for me I put 6-8 inch long pieces on each intake then plugged them with a 1 inch piece of aluminum welding rod. I put a T in the line that goes to the petcock and so now I do not need to disconnect anything to do a carb sync I just pull the plugs and hook up my Morgan Carb Tune hide the lines under the carb banks when I don't need them.

I hated those!   Angry  Tried the ones from the car parts store with black silicone and didn't like those either.  Finally went back to Honda's.  Happy now.

YoungPup,
+1 on Willows post. I had the same problem, put these on and haven't touched them since. They won't break down and rot/crack like the Honda rubber or the auto-parts store rubber caps (which only last 6 months) They are VITON.

I have some of the OEM ones, and will be installing them soon...

Five years ago when I looked to replace what was there, all I could find locally
was the wimpy looking ones in the assortment pack at the auto parts store.

I ended up putting a tight one on, and then putting the next size on over that.

I can see back in there that they are discolored now, but seem to still be
functional...

If I had heard about it, I would have tried the bolt in a piece of gas line, that
sounds pretty bullet-proof...

if there the ones for the intake runners just remove the nipples and replace with a small threaded bolt. Problem solved forever.  cooldude

+ 1  just remove (vac nippers and put in a safe spot in case you ever need to sync) and plug with the small bolts and washer. cooldude

I also trimmed my bolts (plugs now) down so they don't stick out into the intake tube's. cooldude

Went to Lowes and bought I think #5 metric bolts. Removed the pieces from the intake tubes and a little fingernail polish on the new bolts and installed them. Keep your nipples just in case of a carb sank. No vacuum leaks.

IMHO this has to be best simple tech tip that I've seen on a tech forum in a very long time!  cooldude
.... and I can tell you that I hang around many tech forums.  Smiley
If I didn`t use the vacuum for my cruise control, I would definitely do that.
Note: It`s very easy to re-install the nipples if/when a carb sync is required.

Nothing new with plugs/screws, my 78 Wing has that as standard. You need to find nipples to do a carb sync. The tips off small hobby type MIG welders make perfect nipples.
