OOOOOOH! I wish I owned a Harley so I could buy this!!!! Cool drinks, cool music, HOT price! Officially licensed Cooler Bag from the road kings at Harley really doubles your fun! Huge, 32-qt. capacity cooler holds a full day's worth of your favorite beverages, keeping bottles and cans alike ice-cold and ready to drink.
And the built-in AM / FM stereo Radio with built-in stereo speakers and X-BS bass boost kicks out the tunes you love to keep the party moving! Perfect for beaches, picnics, potlucks and wherever adventure takes you!
No wonder Honda is suffering with slow sales, they just don't know how to accessorize!!!!!

Maybe the two companies can work out a deal: Harley can show Honda how to market its products.... Honda can show Harley how to build a motorcycle.

Honda can show Harley how to build a motorcycle. I wish they could..went to a honda shop yesterday.. but I don't want a wing, a dirt bike, or a 4 wheeler... Honda quit making anything I wanted in 2003...Who will we get to (re)-teach honda how to build a bike?.

Nice for those who like 'em but I prefer mine as a more middle-of-the-road, do-anything ride. Of course, using that engine in a sensible motorcycle would make a non-insubstantial cut into their 'Wing sales. But wait...hasn't The Motor Company been espousing that particular engineering philosophy all along? Slap the same engine (or a minor modification thereof) into an FLWH(atever) chassis and call it a new model? ???

Bagger John, I think you're kind of confused. Harley sells more street bikes in this country than the TOTAL number of bikes Honda sells. Why would Harley want to take any advice from Honda? Regardless of the reason, regardless of the perception, regardless of the detractors, peolple want to buy and own Harleys.

exactly black dog,
an old friend of mine just got a cycle, and of course it's a HD, not because he wanted one, but because everyone else he lives by has one. when he saw my Valk he just couldn't get over how big it was, i told him it's a "man" thing.....

But not only is Honda not making anything I wanna buy, no one is... I don't want a Wing, dirtbike, zip-splat, or a V-Twin. The closest is the Triumph Rocket III, but, well... it's a Triumph... I really wish Honda, or ANYONE would make something I'd wanna ride. Not that I'm complaining too much, I've got my Valkyrie, and have no intention of giving her up anytime soon... At this point, if I actually manage to wear this one out, I'd just get another used Valkyrie...

Bagger John, I think you're kind of confused. Harley sells more street bikes in this country than the TOTAL number of bikes Honda sells. Better check your figures again. This is for 2008: Sales of motorcycles rose 7% to a record 13,476,000, with high demand in Asia and South America. Honda continues its position as the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer. http://world.honda.com/news/2008/c080128Sales-Production-Results/Harley total worldwide retail sales - 313,769 http://knol.google.com/k/bobbie7/harley-davidson-motorcycle-sales/21yokwucnoqmb/37#As far as "wanting to buy and own" ... sorry, that Kool-Aid doesn't come in my flavor. Having ridden and wrenched on Harleys over the years, I'll stick with my fleet of Valkyries...with an occasional sportbike or three thrown in the mix for good measure. Nothing they produce - not even the $35,000 CVO Ultras - compare favorably with any of our F6 models. Blondie slightly prefers the Ultra Classic's rider accommodations to that of her Tourer but constantly complains that even the 110" version is down on power for her tastes. Of course, she can comfortably handle a ZX14 at the upper edges of its performance envelope... Now, a Night Rod might make its way into my fleet some day - but that's not really a "Harley", is it?

The closest is the Triumph Rocket III, but, well... it's a Triumph... And it's prone to several showstopper problems. If Triumph can get the lower cam chain sprocket and the transmission to hold together in a reliable manner, an R-III may be on tap for when our Valkyries are worn out. But one wonders if they'll actually be in production that long!

Bagger John - Exactly my point... The Rocket III is a wonderful bike, but I just wouldn't feel confident I could just run out to the garage, throw a few things in the saddle bags, throw a leg over the bike and head off to Alaska...
I'd feel perfectly confident doing just that on my Valkyrie...

My favorite Harley product is "Harley Davidson Beef Jerky" Why would anyone want to eat regular beef jerky when they could have "Harley Davidson Beef Jerky". It ain't beef jerky unless it's made by Harley. LOL

Of course, when the economy sorts itself out then a new 'Glide just might be priced at its true worth... -IF- the company can manage to stay in business, that is.

Not a HD fan, have not found one that "trips my trigger". However, the Street Rod would be really the only one I would look at. Proper seat, bar, peg relationship going on there... with the non paint shaker engine. Jim

Having ridden one of those - hard - I would agree.
Of course, they dropped it from the lineup, as they did the FXR - which IMHO was the best handling Big Twin ever built.

I have a riding history of standards and sport bikes... swore I would NEVER buy a cruiser style bike, for me they took away what I ride a bike for. Feet out front, all weight on my lower back, handlebars that were more for hanging onto for dear life while going down the road. I rode a few bikes that my friends owned, every time it reinforced my thoughts. Then I rode a valk. While not a standard position, it was very acceptable... just couldnt help but thinking a bar swap would make it ideal for a big bike. When the V Rod came out, I tried one... and thought that it had a LOT of potential, but that the HD faithful wouldnt be the ones buying them. Still didnt care for the riding position, but thought that a lot could be done with the core of the bike. The Street Rod is what I had in my mind after my first ride on the standard V Rod. I want to find one to sling a leg over.

I've seen a Road Rod over here in Ft Wayne a few years ago. It was a V-rod with a road glide faring on it. Really meet looking.

I found a dealership that had a complete setup for the Road Rod: fairing, hardbags, and travelpak. For a tourer, it looked pretty nice! I'd consider one if the Valks all disappeared. Unfortunately, lost the link to the website a few years back.

It's the WOW factor. When I went with my brother-in-law to the Harley dealership to pick up his new bike, I walked around the showroom for maybe 30 minutes just looking at each bike. Nothing stood out to me or made me even think twice about wanting a Harley. When I first layed eyes on a Valkyrie I said WOW! The best part is my brother-in-law sold me his Valkyrie so he could buy the Harley. He has told me in private that the Valk is the best bike he's ever owned!

I have always enjoyed giving my Harley Buddies a hard time about ie:
I always ride at the back of the pack so I can pick up their parts for them and still have enough power to catch back up to the group.
etc...etc...etc...
However now I am also a Harley owner. I broke down and bought the Mrs. one last month. Got a good deal on it and it was still twice the price I paid for my Valk or any of my bikes.
I must admit even though very over-priced it is a very good riding machine and would consider one for my self if the price were right but it does feel quite a bit smaller. I get leg cramps trying to keep my feet on the floorboards.
The reason I got it for her was the HD was the only one that sat low enough and had a low enough center of gravity that she felt comfortable on.
It is definately a well built machine, just not my cup of tea. I like the uniqueness of my Valk. It is the one that gets the looks and even theHD envy me...not to mention I can leave them in the dust...lol

I would not trade my Valk for anything Harley makes. Period, end of discussion. I would not trade my Harley for anything Honda makes. Period, end of that discussion too. ('Course, I do own 3 Hondas and only one Harley,,,,,Hmmmmm.) I think I'll get a reversible jacket made, that says, "Yes, I also ride a Honda" on one side and "Yes, I also ride a Harley" on the other. That way I could tell both sides of the argument to P___-Off and leave me alone. Last week the Valk stranded me on an entrance ramp (loose fuse holder). I had the seat off and jacket, helmet, and leathers strewn all over the place troubleshooting it. I was summarily passed and ignored by one Harley and two Honda crotch rockets. The person that stopped to assist? A bicycle salesman in a van! Go figure. Ride safe.
