Where'd old times go?

Frisco, TX

« on: May 23, 2012, 05:19:29 AM »

Only the 3rd one I've seen since they came out  ..  actually being riden on the streets!  Shocked

Saw it yesterday on SH114 just West of the Metromess around 4pm.

I was approaching it from a lane over and several cars behind.  At first I couldn't figure out what it was then as I got closer and saw the shiney valve cover that hid 3 of the 6 cylinders, I realized I was looking at and actual RUNE.  One of those $15,000 Valkyries replacements  Angry

Oh well, at least he was riding it instead of trying to sell it as a collectible  cooldude

Hey Tom, A guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse.  Took some of the $$ and found me a suitable Fat Lady and put the rest of the money to good use.

Loved the Rune.  Great 1 man bike.  I did get  20 questions whenever I rode the Rune.

I know when I'm out on the Rune, I have to allow time for questions.  My favorite comment of all was a HD rider who walked around and around the Rune, then said "Finally, a Metric worth having."

And as I recall, ALL of YOUR bikes are 'worth having'  cooldude

Ran into a guy last weekend in Kerrville that had 180k+ on his Rune. His previous bike was a Valk and it had 192k when he sold it. He said mine was still a baby...

A rune is the bike i would most like to have one of.But its only for a solo rider, so i will never persue it.

I'm probably wrong, but isn't there a modification to the Rune that will allow for a passenger on the back fender?

Not a mod to the bike itself, but Corbin makes (made?) a 2 up seat for the Rune.

Yes Corbin makes or made a "rumble seat" for the Rune.  Had a flip up back rest.  S O said it wasn't very comfortable. Still a one person bike in my opinion.

According to Corbin's website, they make the Rumble Seat and a Dual Tourer.  Most of the Rune folks I know that ride two-up have the Dual Tourer.

The Honda dealer in Victoria has a rune on the floor. It has never had any oil in it.  She shines like a new born!!

You would think that was unheard of, but that's not the only one that's never had oil..... plenty more just like it.... don't let a dealer tell you different.... kind a sad.....

Saw that one in Victoria.  He claims it's the last new one to exist.  Think he wants $28K.  That's why it's still for sale.
