So I called the local powersports yesterday and oem pads are a week's shipping away and $90 for the pair and I think he muttered something about a $32 ordering charge, but I wasn't really sure so I let their tire availability make or break the sale.

I asked for a D404 rear bias ply in 130/90-17.  He said that's a radial and it's smaller than the rear tire my bike came with.  I said I realize it's smaller and it IS bias, he then said they didn't have any.

No biggie, right?  So I came home and punched up an order on MSS and found out in the payment process that they don't ship tires "internationally."  I said screw it, I'll try again Thursday.

It looks like I'll be ordering from the local powersports - I'll have to make time to get up there in person so they don't screw the order.

I'm just a little frustrated about the whole thing!

I can't see anything on this page about Direct Line considering Hawaii or Alaska to be "International",
you could call them...

9 times out of 10 you can get cycle tires online shipped to your house much cheaper than any local dealer can.  However, doesn't hurt to ask if the local dealer can price match the online price you found on same tire especially since if you tell them you will let them install the tires and pay for labor.  Some dealers will price match, most will not but doesn't hurt to ask.

I went online and priced a large order of kuryakyn stuff... Iso grips, footpegs, highway pegs, powerpoint cig lighter, Memphis Shades shield, brackets and lowers and some other things that I cant remember now... TIMES 2 for outfitting 2 bikes the same way.
I went to the local MC Dealer (Cycles128) with all my homework with the best pricing I could find with part#s etc.  I simply told them that if they matched it all or better... I would order from them and they would retain me as a customer for other things also since I was local.  I gave them the option and said it really didn't matter to me cuz I could get it all shipped to me direct for free.

The guy wanted the biz and spent about an hour rounding it all up in his books and online and took the order.

They got my local biz, and I stimulated my local economy...

Point is... do some research and see if you can get the local guy to bite.

CamTom12. I realize you live in Alaska and my first ex wife is from Alaska. 2funny What i'm having the problem with as you are is the $32.00??? shipping fee. My Honda shop here just adds my order to their order and i wait the couple days or so until they call me and let me know my stuff has arrived coolsmiley When i need something i can't always meet the min. order some want for the free shipping. I get my prices on line and then i call or go to my local Honda retailer and see how much they need. Case in point-couple weeks ago i got a new(with acid B T W)Yuasa battery from them for about $30.00 less than it was available on line(e-bay). Wink Those pads seem some pricy to me. crazy2 That 800 number at H D L is free. cooldude Give em a call. Smiley RIDE SAFE.

I hope you ordered 1800 Wing rotors for the front.  They used to be much cheaper than the Valk units.  I heard somewhere that the difference in price isn't as great as it once was.

I wouldn't use EBC pads on stock rotors.  They'll make a loud buzzing sound throughout their entire SHORT life.

Stock rotors work best with stock pads.

Old2Soon:

I'm not 100% he said $32 ordering fee.  He said something that sounded like that and I wasn't sure.  I was rolling down the road in my '69 F-250 so its entirely possible I misunderstood him.

I'm going in there in person tomorrow (hooray 4-day weekend!) and I'll see what a face-to-face does.  If his prices aren't at least near what I've found online I'll see if I can get a price-match.

Thanks for the good advice guys, I'll update with progress tomorrow.
