Evil " DARKSIDE "  article goes a long way to discredit the using of a car tire on bikes . I guess it was only a matter of time.  crazy2

Rider magazine, they really have to oppose darkside, because most overall bikers agree, and too much heat from higher up.  (advertisers) It would not be good for business, plus they are the mc safety authorities.  The darkside really is a small niche in motorcyling overall.  That being said, to each his own,  I have a strong libertarian strain in me, even though I don't personally do darkside.  Hoser   Cool

The new Rider magazine has an issue about CTs on cycles. Haven't read it yet, but it is titled "unsafe at any speed," so I'm guessing I will disagree with them...

Just finished it. The author did a nice job of covering all the anti-CT arguments, but nothing on the positionve side other than the fact that CT are generally cheaper. Of course he found car tires to be unsafe, a liability, and out of the question for cycles. Also of note, he didn't even try a CT for himself!!

On the plus side, there are two valks in one of the other articles...

They ALWAYS say they are unsafe, and ill handling.  Then, they go on to say they have never tried them!!!  LOL
I am NOT saying they are for everyone.  However, far too many cycles have them on, with no known safety issues.

Last year, several motorcyclists were killed on the way to Sturgis, on MC tires that blew out.  Where is the outcry to outlaw MC tires?  I bet though, that if even ONE CT blew out, it would PROVE how dangerous they are!

Are you talking about the "June" issue?  I didn't see anything about it on the covor.

I just completed the reading of Riders magazine article "Dark Riders" in that they will not!! By any way shape or form, condone the use of a CT on a motorcycle.  The article was 6 pages long, had interviews with tire company reps ect. on how we are so wrong Undecided And the very last page had the legal ramifications if we crash on a CT, how we could be sued, ect.  I had a crash 2 months ago and the Trooper didn't even know I had a CT on the bike police Did I think the CT helped or had a part in the crash-----NO WAY!!!!!! In fact I believe it kept me from going down harder coolsmiley It seems that the article was info for anyone who does crash with a bike to look and see if the bike had a CT to help shift  blame if needed Angry

Edison thought Tesla was a whacko too.

Everyone thought the Wright brothers were doomed to die a fiery death too.

The tire companies get 3 x the price for a tire when it's an MC tire.  That's what funds the R&D for new stuff.  Not our $74 tires for taurus's that we're using instead.

By definition as a Valk rider, we tend to walk to our own beat.  Don't seek approval from the establishment.
