Mostly a discussion of synthetic vs nonsyn but good info on heat related considerations.  Would have been nice if it weren't so Harley focused but it is what it is.

Interesting point of the article is the oil filter 30 microns for evolution HD engines vs. 10 micron for other cycle engines.  10 micron oil filter may reduce comtaminents but restrict oil flow thus causing more problems due to lack of oil circulation especially at startup.

Also note the writer although brags up and recommends synthetic oil but in the end, he still uses regular dyno conventional oil but changes at 2500 miles vs. 5000 miles.

I bet our Valks don't care if 10 or 30 micron oil filters and doesn't matter if synthetic or dyno oil either?  Agree or not?

I use WIX or hi/flo or k&n oil filters with Amsoil 10w-40 full synthetic cycle oil since only change oil once per year under 5-6K easily every year for miles.  I wouldn't even hesitate going 7-8K miles on Amsoil oil but ONLY once per year and change for sure once per year.

I use amsoil diesel oil 10w30/30 HD for 2 yrs.  oil analysis at 4k miles, then at 8k at 2 yrs. OA came back oil still good for continued use both times. even after 2 yrs TBA was still high and wear #s where still low. A few yrs ago amsoil changed their oil change intervals by shortening them to increase sales. OA proved that the old intervals are still good.
