I changed out the originals a few years ago.  I think these ones had 50K or so on them.  They werent too bad but I had some of the better ones with the metal part molded in, so I thought Id see if it tightend things up a bit

That is the original Wheel from the factory.......the bike has 130K that wheel has just over 100K on it....I gave a clue in the picture what I use to keep it that way.........Blue Magic.  But I did go through one bottle of Bombs Away and that stuff set me on course for easy maintenance

I agree with TennX, that wheel looks immaculate. I use a mothers power ball and their mag/aluminum polish to get my wheels to shine. The ball is pretty well spent after six Valk rims.

Bruce, the older ones had a piece of rubber with a hole and a seperate metal part that sat in the hole........it gets loose after awhile.  The newer ones are one piece molded together so theres no wiggling between the rubber and the metal...............Sure did tighten up the drive train slop....I likes it a lot

Are they different part numbers?  It sounds like something I need to stock up on for future maintainence fun.   Smiley

Easy.  Buy the ones for an I/S.

Looking at the fishe for the 1997C and the 2000CF (stnd/IS) the pictures are different but the part numbers are the same.  I would order on the phone and get confirmation, the parts could be randomly stocked so you could get either one if they have both on hand.  HDL has always worked with me on the phone to satisfy what I needed.

According to HDL's microfiche the 97 part # is 06410-MZ0-000 with the insert being part # 41242-MR5-000.  The part # for an I/S is 06410-MBH-000.

Makes sense because the picture was different, I probably looked at the numbers too fast

Only thing different are the 3 middle characters.  It's easy to do.
