ok that last time I started my bike the gas started pouring out of the bottom of carb #6. I got it tore apart right now, I figured I should replace the bowl gaskets and maybe the intake O rings while I'm at it. I look online and find the bowl gaskets for $23 and the same place has the o rings for $13. ( going by memory here so subject to CRS ) well, I thought, maybe for grins and giggles I see how much the honda dealer over in cristal river FL wants for the two sets. I drove over, needed to get out of the house anyway, and they are not in inventory he'll have to order them. chuka, chuka, chuka, .... (him typing) that'll be $110 plus tax. I almost laughed in his face, said I'd have to think about it...... 3 nano seconds later I was out the door

Where did you look online for them? My local dealer will price match HDL/DLP, not sure about other places. I have to pay sales tax at the dealer, but not shipping...they add it to one of their orders I assume.

My local dealer of choice hates me with a passion. He told me a few years ago that he'd price match anything I found just to get my business. He about died when I came in and showed him Redeye's prices for those same parts. As well as HDL's prices, etc. etc. etc.

Tom, I doubt you will need new bowl gaskets unless they are ripped. Do go with the Redeye intake o-rings, hardware store ones fall apart. A good cleaning plus maybe a new needle & seat is all you probably need on the offending carb. Been there done all that! Bowl from the leaker carb. All of them were gunked up. This pics was AFTER I wiped some of it out!

I patronize my local dealer for most all my maintaince and oe Honda items. They give me 20% off. Can I get some things cheaper? Yes. But when I need a favor they are there for me. If they are outta wack on a price , they will try to be competitive, and come close. They also employ 40 people and have loaned me bikes to ride while mine is in service.
I am also polite and friendy. And did I mention demanding as well? Well I am. For me, and I may get flamed for this, but loyalty is a two way street.

For the most part I patronize my dealers. Both Hayden Honda and Ehlerding in Indiana treat me right with honest prices.
However, the dealer that I bought my used Vstrom from , I do not! Dishonest. I got screwed when i bought the Strom. MY FAULT. I didn't look at the bike close enough. I don't go back there.
The two dealers above, are Honda dealers, but will still order parts for me for my Strom. at a fair price.

basically same here.....my dealer treats me good..............and makes up for any money i spend over on line prices in most cases. there's nothing like having repoire with a local dealer you can go into and get GOOD help.....and be treated good. You mileage may vary....etc...etc...

I deal with Rosenau Powersports in Dearborn Hts., MI (313 278-5000). I always get a deal from their parts department; not only do they match HDL/DLP prices, there are never any shipping charges and they will have almost anything I've ordered within two days.
But I will always support VRCC sponsors, vendors, and members first. (Waynes World, Redeye Tech, Ernie Schuster, Big Mike Terry, Grumpy's, etc)

On the west coast of Canada, Stealers is an appropriate name.
I just don't get it anymore with the US/Canadian $ being very close to par.
When I re-built my wrecked Interstate 4 years ago. I priced out all the parts and bits I needed and gave them to 3 local dealers (all within 30 miles). I also got a quote from HDL. The parts from HDL came to $1,900 + shipping + local taxes and US/Can exchange=2,550 The three local dealers came in between $3,200 & $3,750, all in.
Two months ago I was quoted $2,600 for a replace fuel tank. HDL was $1,450 all in (shipping/duty/taxes). I did not get either. I got a tank out of the classifieds here.
I agree with an earlier comment that Loyalty is a two way street. I agree. I keep trying, but I only ever get the smallest of items locally, and they ALWAYS have to order it in. I'd love to support local businesses, but I hate being gouged.
My 2 Cents
Glenn
