You know, for the noise reduction through radio?
If so, then going with HDL for now & send my OEM to M.A.R.S. for spare at later date.
Thanks to every one who's taken the time to help me out, here, & on my other post.

This is what the guy from M A R S told me. In 1996 whoever builds the altenators for Honda farmed out the windings for the rotors and commutators to TA DA china. That right there is all i have to add. Just figured that little tidbit might help you some-or not. RIDE SAFE.

After rebuilding mine at a local shop and having it fail shortly after, I went with a Goldwing alt re clocked.  Bought it from the dealer who matches HDL.  It was made in Japan, not China and came with the noise suppressor on it.  I opted to use the new suppressor instead of the old one - just because.. The wire to the little black box is shorter than the Valk one, so when you clock it, it isn't long enough to sit where the original one was.  Left it loose until the alt was in place and then secured it to one of the other nuts on the back.  It fits there once you get the alt in.  Will have to remove it before trying to remove the alternator next time, which I hope is a long ways down the road - just not on the side of the road 2funny

Thanks for the reply's. Has anyone tried this alternator ? http://www.psep.biz/store/honda_motorcycle_alternators.htm#AHAHA0001
Caint beet the price! The HITACHI LR140-708, -C is what just came outta my 2K/IS.                       E. Tn. Goldwing recommended them. Said they had installed "a couple of them" in the past 2 years and they're still going strong.
Anybody even heard of these guys?
Thanks, Whiskey.

Okay, just got off the phone with http://www.psep.biz/store/honda_motorcycle_alternators.htm#AHAHA0001
and the guy was honest enough to tell me these ARE made in China. Said they've had some returns, and even a couple that didn't work n.i.b.
So....................... please forget this link. My bad, sorry for gettin' anyones hopes up.

Answering your original question, yes that HDL Goldwing 1500 alternator comes with the noise suppressor attached.  I didn't have to loosen it or move it.  I just had to "clock" the front housing to match the Valkyrie alternator and install it.  I've only got 300 miles on mine so far, but it charges just like my old one before it went South.  My Kury volt meter has the same one green light it had for the past year on the old unit.
P.S.  This is what the rear of my original unit looked like.

Good luck!

I replaced my functioning alternator with one from MARS as a preemptive measure.....I thought I had heard a squeak on the old one....thinking maybe the bearing might be failing....the old one was working fine though......

Hubcapsc helped me swap it out and as soon as we crunk the bike up, it made a pretty loud whirring noise..... Angry Angry.....I was told that it was a close tolerance on the "air diverter" inside and would be fine and should get quieter over time.....it's still annoying, but too big of a PIA to swap it out again unless it fails......I just hope it doesn't go out on me on the way to WV in a couple of weeks.....makes me wonder if I should throw the old one in the saddlebag just in case.............
