I've read the previous posts on the subject when mine stopped working last week. I removed the clutch lever and found the brass bushing that mates the rod worn 1/3 through on the side away from the rod. I also found the bushing that is in the lever, ( non replaceable it being part of the lever) was worn through at one point. I replaced the bushing first and it helped with the clutch, however it still wouldn't start in gear. I fiddled with the clutch switch, cleaned the contacts inside, cleaned the slip on connectors and tightened them up with a pair of pliers. Finally i took a couple of pieces of rubber tape and put them on the lever where the little button on the switch makes contact ( there was a little wear spot). It worked. I picked up a new lever today and it works too without the tape. I find it very handy being able to start in gear.  cooldude
