Can anyone recommend an external fuel filter ? I tried a purolator  clear plastic with a paper filter in it but it didn't let enough fuel gravity feed through it . I know there isn't much room ,I've desmogged and have a Pingel petcock, Dan Marc shut off valve, and Motion Pro fuel line ordered . I would  like to install the inline when I put it all back together . Thanks

RM Works includes a Wix 33027 with their belly tank.  It's a metal small diameter.  You could give that one a try.

I am using the pingel inline filter and has worked great with a Golan petcock.

Golan makes fuel filters as well. They claim 10 microns if I recall correctly. I've been using them on two Valks with no starvation problems.

I also run a Golan micro filter and their petcock, no problems.

I have a Purolator (Champion) FF1203 (OEM F10024).  I believe others have used this successfully.

I use a Pingle valve with a plain ole in-line metal filter, usually a Fram, with no problems.. The OEM fuel line diameter is I believe 8. 'something' mm which is larger than 5/16" so I 'force fit' a 3/8" filter..
I feel most fuel flow issues come from lines that are left too long causing bows, kinks or some other type of 'warpage' to restrict the flow..

Just make sure what ever kind of fuel shut off you have comes after the filter. (Between the filter and the carbs) I made the mistake of installing a clear filter in the fuel line AFTER the petcock shut off. In other words, when I shut the petcock off there was still a big filter full of fuel that had already been admitted past the petcock and caused a hydrolock. I did that when I only had the bike a few days and had not read the potential problems that I later learned here. Thank goodness I had no damage and just took the plugs out, flushed the cylinders, changed the oil, and went back to using the standard filter that came with it.
