Now This is Scary! THIS WILL BLOW YOU AWAY !!!!! The National Association of REALTORS is all over this and working to get it repealed, before it takes effect. But, I am very pleased we aren't the only ones who know about this ploy to steal billions from unsuspecting homeowners. How many REALTORS do you think will vote Democratic in 2012? Did you know that if you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on it? That's $3,800 on a $100,000 home, etc. When did this happen? It's in the health care bill and goes into effect in 2013. Why 2013? Could it be to come to light AFTER the 2012 elections? So, this is "change you can believe in"? Under the new health care bill all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% Sales Tax. If you sell a $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This bill is set to screw the retiring generation who often downsize their homes. Does this make your November and 2012 vote more important? Oh, you weren't aware this was in the Obamacare bill? Guess what, you aren't alone. There are more than a few members of Congress that aren't aware of it either http://www.gop.gov/blog/10/04/08/obamacare-flatlines-obamacare-taxes-home < http://www.gop.gov/blog/10/04/08/obamacare-flatlines-obamacare-taxes-home >

Only 3.8%? That would be great! I sold one house in 1990 and another in 2006. After each transaction, I paid 28% to the Feds, 9% to the state and 7% to the Real State folks. So, 3.8% would be a huge windfall for me. In the last transaction the taxable capital gain after all deductions was $850K. You can figure out how much tax plus real estate fees the total was. ???

remember this, taxes ALWAYS start out small then go up, so the 3.8% is the LOWEST that tax will ever be.

When I was in school, the American History course started with the discovery of the land mass and proceeded towards the present(which was the 60's at that time). The US history portion came along somewhere near the center of the course. The various countries other than the USA were touched upon also, although not in as much detail as the United States. Of course we had real teachers then, instead of nannies and babysitters who aren't allowed to teach even if they want to, because of government rules. Flamesuit on. Hoser

I dont care what you call me, I am a lawyer and used to names. So bring it if you need to...
But here I will cast my lot with BigT and Alph and dont get why name calling is brought up by my brother in New Hampshire.
Look, An infringement by the federal government on a home sale by virtue of a tax is bad enough
The States had the right to impose transfer taxes and they do and so do the municipalities here in NYS
That this bill was stuffed up the collective a s s of the american people galled me then and pisses me off now That such bill was not read by anyone is an abomination and to ME anyway is a treason against the people of the USA deserving all who voted to be thrown out without their pensions. I dont say impeach Obama, that road is one we should never bring up, voting out of office to me is the way to go.
Not saying GW didnt stink up a whole bunch but this POTUS just smells worse than a dirty diaper IMHO
Y'all can keep your opinion.
Bills should pass as line item Part of the problem with congress is you scratch my itch I will scratch yours, where is the care about what is good for the country

I dont care what you call me, I am a lawyer and used to names. So bring it if you need to... I don't mind people having opinions. I just don't like it when those opinions are based on hysteria and information from sources that are "suspect" at best. I'm also sure that at least a few regular posters here are either in on the deception tactics or just don't care whether the information posted is true or not. It's to the point where I can pretty much write off anything certain members post as being total horses**t. It's fun throwing their horses**t back in their faces though so I'm more than happy to take a fleeting moment to do so. I'm also not the only one who can do this and the rest of you are just beating each other's meat in a circular fashion. As far as shoving it up the nation's @ss? Please. It was Obama's biggest campaign promise. It wasn't shoved up anyone's @ss and these things are done by every regime. Uneducated bumpkins can possibly lay claim to innocence but if you're a lawyer and any of this surprises you then you haven't been paying attention.

that was my point ironically nobody it seems on either side of the aisle, except for those who contributed to the fiasco bothered to pay attention or read the whole bill I would not ever vote for a bill I had not read, thats just me If it took a few days with a govmt out of money then that is just the way it is. All the senators and representatives should be voted out for sleeping on the job Anvil of course I don't pay attention to every bill moving thru congress but I do very much appreciate all the members of this board and on other boards and email lists who BRING stuff to my attention If you want to post more stuff for us to consider as opposed to slamming the snopes (we all know how to snopes) please do I for one welcome the posts as its always good to learn what different folks think. Doesnt mean I have to agree. And there were lots of promises there always are promises Like this wont hurt..........and I will respect you in the morning well maybe not the 2nd one

slamming the snopes (we all know how to snopes) Assuming you are right, this means that some people intentionally choose not to. Wonder why that is? But I'm not really here to make an argument one way or another or convince anyone of anything. Often I am not convinced of anything myself so I'd be a poor spokesman for either side. I don't really even like Nationalized Romneycare all that much but I think it should be judged on actual merits and drawbacks.

Anvil, I hope you do realize that "Snopes" is (or at least was) one couple who do the research. To believe what they say, I'd have to know their personal preferences and research bibliography on any single topic. MOST of the time, they are right, but I've found errors.

As a general rule I read the documents that they either refer or link to before using them as a reference. It's just that they do that work for me.

I have gernerally found they are 'left' It only seems that way because the right insists on using misinformation in such a personal fashion. I can't recall the last time I got one of these viral emails from a left wing organization (not saying it hasn't happened, just that I can't recall). But my conservative friends just love to forward this stuff to me thinking that I'll be impressed. So you've gotta realize that I've already seen all of this stuff before. I am months ahead of you guys in some cases. So in summary; Snopes just seems left because the right lies so much. Look no further than these continuations of the right's folly for evidence of this. But Snopes isn't even a political website. I use Snopes for that reason. A wealth of debunking information can be found on factcheck.org but that IS a political website. Snopes is just a website that keeps truth (as can best be determined with information readily available) at the forefront. One of the best services they offer is information on business scams like the ones that target the elderly who are less computer savvy. Note that here on the George Bush page they debunk a number of inflammatory stories regarding a guy who is a very easy target for the left: http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/bush.aspLook at all the help they give Sarah Palin... http://www.snopes.com/politics/palin/palin.aspTotally left wing.

While I must admit to being pretty awesome that is not what I meant by the "months ahead of you guys" comment. I just get a lot of these links and emails from friends and because of this I see them very soon after they hit the scene. This particular piece of misinformation is a couple of years old I think and I recognized it the instant I saw it.

Obviously my comments were somewhat "tongue in cheek". Actually, I am usually quite impressed with the breadth of the things you are at least knowledgeable about. (Hey, that's a compliment, and meant that way!) It would just be refreshing, and probably would aid in giving you some extra credibility, if just every once in a while, your comments were at least tinged with just a little bit of humility.

I did read a fair piece about Rush limbaugh on snopes, seemed right on as far as the qoutes that he gets accused of. he said something in the distant past that WAS racist, he was a DJ at the time and NOT doing political commnetary. if snopes is just two folks doing a website they might get something wrong every once in a while, it happens...... Remember; when all other arguments fail just call your adversary a liberal. That seems to be the way a lot of conservatives argue. I've made arguements you've failed to answer, so where on the political spectrum do you reside?

Obviously my comments were somewhat "tongue in cheek". Actually, I am usually quite impressed with the breadth of the things you are at least knowledgeable about. (Hey, that's a compliment, and meant that way!) It would just be refreshing, and probably would aid in giving you some extra credibility, if just every once in a while, your comments were at least tinged with just a little bit of humility. Your'e kidding, right? Cause that ain't never gonna happen. Hoser

Oh well, it made me feel better to say it, so... not a total waste of typing.

Hell, I'm pretty sure that humility is not even his vocabulary. Oh it is. I'm sure you can say "homosexual" but it doesn't mean you are, right? I understand the concept of humility but it's not my natural response to BS like what's contained in many of the threads around here. I don't see that changing any time soon.

No I don't see any change coming either. Just as you voice your opinons and comments, however ignorant, arrogant and silly they may be, we also have the same right to voice ours even though we are not omniscient as "someone" on this forum. Stay tuned!

Yet more bullshit from Big-T who apparently believes every viral email he reads... http://www.snopes.com/politics/taxes/realestate.aspI try SO HARD not to make personal attacks and call people names like "stupid" and "gullible" but my patience with the lowest common denominator's collective ignorance is nearing it's end. did you read the snopes article? I just did it's a mixture of true and false.

This is very scary and shouldn't be made into a political circus, our very lives are at stake! I googled and checked it for myself so I wouldn't find biased opinions slanted either way and suggest you do the same! What is the matter with us? Do we still not want to believe it can happen here? This is serious stuff!! Be sure to wait at the end for the comments. Obama gave The MUSLIM Brotherhood 1.5 BILLION of your dollars. Why? Because he (Obama) like all Muslims, is a hater of the USA/Israel/Christians. We are on the verge of disaster. Be prepared. http://tomohalloran.com/?p=1681

Huh? I don't understand. If President Obama is a muslim(he isn't), why would he run for President? It is one of the hardest jobs in the world, where a normal day is 15-20 hours, 6 1/2 days a week. I didn't bother the watch a hate spewing video about muslim paranoia, I just don't understand why people can't accept that President Obama is a Christian. I have no problem with you disagreeing with his politics, decisions, policies, etc, but why do people have to smear him by calling him an American hating muslim. Personally, I am disappointed in some of the things that the President has done, but calling him a muslim just makes you sound like a nutjob... jj

If the national media covered it I guess I missed it. Just curious, how do you know his hours and schedule? I know ANY president is under a lot of pressure and I wouldn't want it if I were qualified! Look how fast they all age in 4-8 years...faster than I! As Donald Trump, Lou Dobbs and others ask why the problem of producing a birth certificate, it creates suspicion! There are some things I like that he did and I can say that about all presidents. I agree that no one should smear the prez but it happens to all of them....especially poor old Busch- they blamed him for tornados and blue skies! The nut job comment?? First of all I never said he's a muslim, but you prove he's not!! He certainly does not have Christian values, so what IS he?? The bottom line is that we can't allow Sharia law in OUR country and it's already made the news in Texas of all places!! Borders???

The bottom line is that we can't allow Sharia law in OUR country and it's already made the news in Texas of all places!! Borders??? You did say he was a muslim--Direct quote from previous post"Because he (Obama) like all Muslims..." Birth Certificate--He had already produced his birth cert, what Trump was asking for is the long form BC(the one they keep on file in a hospital). Think about the BC you have--the one like that has been public record since before the election, but for some crazy reason, that wasn't enough for Trump. I don't know the President's schedule, but you said it yourself, they age way faster in 4-8 years than you or I, so I don't think its from playing video games all day. Again I am fine with attacking the President on the issues, but calling him an American hating muslim just makes you sound like a crazy person. Sharia law goes against multiple US laws, including a couple of the Bills of rights, so the is no way that it would happen. How would you like me to prove that President Obama is a Christian? Here is the snopes article: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp which has approx 15 independent sources. Bottom line, President Obama has repeatedly said he was a Christian, he attended a Christian Church for years BEFORE campaigning for President, so the real question is, why do you think he is anything other that a Christian? And don't say "because he has a funny name" As far as Christian Values, to what do you refer? He is tolerant of others, he has publicly discussed his prayer life, etc...Just because you don't agree with POLITICAL decisions, doesn't mean he doesn't have Christian Values. jj
