Stopped in the local Honda/Yamaha dealer to get a price check on a new alternator. My alternator is still working I'm just concerned with the sound I get from that area from time to time  Undecided Priced a 1999 Valkyrie alternator....$648.87  Shocked   Also priced a 1997 Goldwing alternator ( Will work on the Valkyrie just needs " clocked " ) .....$601.75  Shocked

I'm not buying a after-market off e-bay as I don't trust them....The dude up north ( not calling no names ) I've heard several claim that after they installed his re-man's they had excessive noise from the alternator and in my minds eye if its screamin' its not right  Undecided

I want a Hitachi and nothing else .

Joe

Honda Direct Line lists the Goldwing alt for $243. and if you order one before June 5th you can save an additional 10%. My local dealer just price matched the HDL price for me.

Since mine is still working and very well could last for thousand's more miles I think I'll buy a new one and carry the one I take out with me on road trips as I have ( 3 ) of these beautiful motorcycles.

I've got to be doing something wrong looking up parts.

When I looked up Altenator, assy. 31100-MBY-005 for a 2000 Interstate from HondaParts Direct.com, I got "retail" $648.87 and "your price" $492.42

http://www.hondaparts-direct.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=148581&category=MOTORCYCLES&make=HONDA&year=2000&fveh=3474

I hope this isn't something that's going up.  The u-joints went up from $64 to $135 this week.

http://www.hondaparts-direct.com != http://www.hdlparts.com

hondaparts-direct seems to have slightly higher prices than hdlparts, but the big difference is
that you looked up the "right" alternator - for a Valkyrie - to get the $492.49 price... the lower
price is for the "wrong" alternator - for a 1500 Goldwing - $243.26... supposedly the alternators
are almost plug-and-play, and functionally equivalent.

hondaparts-direct has the goldwing alternator at $252.40... I don't know what they were last week,
but hdlparts has the ujoint for $132.45...

Joe, you sure you got the right Goldwing part #? Clinton Hwy just told me they got one, in stock, for a 97 Aspencade for about $365 out the door. Part # was 31100-mt2-015.
I'm in alternator 4377 right now, waitin' on mine to come in from HDL. With discount was $218.93, no ship charge, due here this coming Thursday. Hope it shows cause that means the test flight is gonna be Hillbilly Highway.
If you end up with a "workin' spare" bye then, I'll pack it if ya want (just in case, haha).
