So, I've read lots on cutting the piggies. My question is, what are most of you using to cut the piglets?

Just don't cut them down flush to the end of the muffler. Leave 2-3" so you'll be able to attach the end cover and if later you decide to reverse the cutting...you'll have something to attach new tubing to.

Alot of folks have regreated cutting there piggies. I would suggest, find a set of pipes that have been cut and drilled and keep your stock set of unmolested pipes. Stock unmolested pipes are getting harder to find.

I would never, nor suggest it, to spend $400 for a $2 job.  Undecided

Thanks for all replys. I figured a hacksaw would do the trick. I'd rather cut them and then fix them if I didn't like it, rather than find a used set.

Hey I waited almost 5 years before I cut mine. Left a stub for change of attitude. I like the new sound and want more but long trips loud gets old.

So, I've read lots on cutting the piggies. My question is, what are most of you using to cut the piglets?

I see you're new.  Do yourself a favor and do a search for drone.   Wink

+1 on the drone .... I think most people end up cutting the piggies so they can go in and drill the rear baffles but it would be wise to go back and extend the piggies to get them back out towards the end of the exhaust tip to get away from the drone.

How much louder does she get with the piggies cut off. I am running with 4" truck stacks over my stock exhaust and extend about a foot longer.

Just cutting the piggies won't make it any louder.....just a little more deeper tone.  If you want louder, you gotta start drillin' and/or cuttin'.

I'd really recommend doing some homework about drone before starting to cut the pigs off though.

go ahead cut the piggies, just leave some to reattach when/if you want to.
don't burn your bridges because of what someone else likes or dislikes.

decide for yourself.

a copper joint will put them back on. set screw or braised.

I  haven't done anything to my pipes because I ride with a lot of straight pipe   HD guys and their passengers hate the noise and it is also very annoying to follow them , A Valk with 6 into 6 is even worse , that is a real ear piercing sound . Its just seems nice to me to run the back roads and listen to the sound of my stock Dragon purring and knowing I can kick any stock HD to the curb at will ." Just my thought "

My dragon had the piggies cut when I bought her and riding it 2700 miles home I became familiar with the drone. first 2 days gave me a headache now I just turn the tunes a little louder hear and there and change the speed now and then. I have grown to love that sound now kinda like a hot rod.

Some like it fast, some like it long. Valk drivers can give you both

I used a Dremel with cut-off wheel (actually about four cut-off wheels).
